One perk of winning American Idol 14 was that the winners song would serve as the theme for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Championship, which took place in Vancouver Canada. After pop rocker and Connecticut native, Nick Fradiani, took the Idol crown, and his single, “Beautiful Life” was featured during games and in FOX Sports promos.
As fate would have it, the United States beat Japan last weekend to win the championship. At a pep rally Friday at City Hall in New York City, following a ticker tape parade, “Beautiful Life” blared as the crowd joined the team to celebrate their sweet victory. Watch the massive celebration in the video below. For his part, Nick was moved that his song was part of the party.

At the rally, Robin Roberts introduced the team, before speeches from coaches and team members, including triple scoring player, Carli Lloyd, who said, “This parade today has been one of the best moments of my entire life.” New York City Mayor, Bill De Blasio presented the team with keys to the city. The pep rally ended with “Beatiful Life” blasting from the speakers as pink confetti flew in the air and team members sang along. They knew the words! No wonder Nick was so thrilled.
