Noah Thompson took to social media this week to share his thoughts about singing the National Anthem before the ill-fated NFL football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals on Monday January 2.

After Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after a hit on the field during the first quarter, the game was canceled. Medical professionals worked to restart his heart on the field before taking him by ambulance to the hospital. The 24 year old is alive, but still in critical condition.

“Make sure to keep him in y’all’s prayers”

The American Idol reigning winner waited a few days before writing about the experience. While he called it “Most definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten to do!!” He thanked the Bengals for inviting him to Paycor Stadium to sing the anthem, “what an honor,” Noah wrote. “We had an amazing time.”

But, Noah wrote, “It was awful to see @d.ham3 get hurt, make sure to keep him in y’all’s prayers. #bengals #paycorstadium #pray4damarhamlin #prayer.”

Noah’s words captioned a series of photos and videos taken on the field, including a short clip of Noah’s National Anthem performance.

A day before on January 3, Noah wrote on Instagram, alongside a gallery of photos, about playing a New Year’s Eve show at the East Kentucky Expo Center near his home town. He co-headlined the show with Chase Matthew. “What a freakin way to end the year!!” Noah wrote. “First arena show, when I seen all those lights I could’ve cried. Thank you all for such a great year, I seriously can’t say it enough. You guys have changed my life forever and I’m forever grateful for all of you!! Love y’all!! See y’all in 2023!!!”

Noah toured with American Idol runner-up HunterGirl

From the end of October, through the beginning of September, Noah hit the road with his good friend and American Idol runner-up, HunterGirl. “We just both are so grateful that we get to go on tour…” Noah told Hollywood Life at the time. “There’s no other person I want to do that with than Hunter. We became best friends on that show and we’re going to just have a blast out on the road together.”

Noah’s dropped his first original post-Idol single in November titled “Make You Rich” which celebrates growing up in a tight-knit community.

“I’m from a small town in Eastern Kentucky and didn’t grow up with much,” Noah said in a press statement about  “Make You Rich.” “I’ve learned to value my friends and family so much more than the materialistic things we can have in life. I joke that I’m just a simple guy. I’ve also learned, even when life is tough, the more you give and the more you love, the richer you are, and that is the whole meaning behind ‘Make You Rich.’”

Noah looking forward to releasing more new music

In the new year, the country singer is getting ready to release new music. Noah teased a new song, “She Gets It From Me,” which he is really excited to release. “You guys have been asking for some new music. I just got this master back, y’all tell me how you feel about it,” Noah wrote alongside a clip of himself singing along with the song in his car. “Love this freakin song,” Noah wrote. “I hope y’all do to!! Let me know In the comments!! #shegetsitfromme #newmusiccoming”
