After the X Factor UK finale, everyone was talking about the song One Direction performed, titled, “Midnight Memories.” The song has definite hair metal overtones, with a big emphasis on guitars. The boys were definitely attempting to channel the 80’s right there. Black and leather even. Heh.
The song might sound familiar to you, because it bears a resemblance to the iconic Def Leppard tune “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”

Personally, I can’t get over One Direction going hair metal to even consider the similarities. Is this some sort of attempt at being “badass”? If it is, the, hair is all wrong. Well, maybe not Harry’s.
An unnamed source told the UK Mirror, “Everyone is staying silent at this stage but it’s clear the two songs sound alike – which has been enough for Def Leppard’s aides to pose questions to their legal team.” Hm.
