Phillip Phillips spent time in Japan this week, promoting his debut album, The World from The Side of the Moon. The American Idol season 11 winner is wrapping up a week of appearances, including a stop at Sukkiri, a popular Japanese morning show, to perform his single, “Gone Gone Gone.”
According to the Japanese edition of MTV, Phillip is in Japan for the first time, and performed a showcase on July 27 at the the Tokyo Harajuku Astro Hall. The singer told MTV that the only thing he knew about Japan before visiting was Sushi. “I think Japanese food is delicious,” he said, after sampling some of the local fare.
Phillip performed 5 songs at the showcase, with the cello player from his band, Dave Eggar, but promises to return with a full live set. The World from the Side of the Moon comes out in Japan on August 19.
