MTV announced today at the Television Critics Association tour that the Randy Jackson produced, America’s Best Dance Crew, will be returning to the network this summer, with six new episodes. The new season features dance crews from seasons of the competition series. An all-new group of judges will be on hand for the reboot.
The series features dance crews competing for a $100,000 grand prize. The show ran it’s last season in 2012. This is good news for Randy Jackson, who was replaced as mentor on American Idol by Big Machine Records honcho, Scott Borchetta. Season 14 will be the first Randy Jackson-less season in it’s 13 year history.
ABDC is also executive produced by Rob Lee (Bayonne Entertainment) and Howard and Karen Schwartz (Hip Hop International). Brooke Karzen, Dan Sacks and Louise Wu are the executives overseeing the project for Warner Horizon Television (“The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” “The Voice”). Lauren Dolgen, Kristina Edwards, Michelle Klepper and Hannah Uszak are the executives in charge for MTV.
