Simon Cowell is reportedly engaged to his longtime girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
The couple, who welcomed son Eric in February 2014, recently got engaged on Christmas Eve in Barbados, reports Sun magazine, where they first met.
According to sources, the two went on a walk together and he surprised her by proposing on the beach.
The proposal took place during a family vacation. Eric and Lauren’s eldest son Adam, from her first marriage, were also present.
An insider told The Sun, “Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears — happy tears — and obviously said yes straight away. It was important to Simon that the kids were there, too, as he adores them both and the family they’ve become.”
“Lauren has been Simon’s rock over these past few years – supporting him when he broke his back, and through thick and thin generally,” The Sun source said. “They make a wonderful couple.”
“Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he’s realised he’s met the woman of his dreams – and couldn’t be happier. In the words of Beyoncé, it was time to put a ring on it.”

The relationship started in scandal
The two met in 2004. However, they didn’t get together romantically until years later, when both were still in other relationships. The affair surfaced when Lauren became pregnant. It was quite a scandal, because Simon was engaged to American Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, while Lauren was married to Simon’s friend, Andrew Silverman. At the time, the relationship supplied quite a bit of fodder to the rumor and gossip mills.
However, Lauren left her husband, and divorced him. She and Simon settled into a relationship. And after Eric came into the world, Simon couldn’t get enough of being a dad.
