So You Think You Can Dance 2024 Recap: Season 18 Movies Challenge (Videos)

So You Think You Can Dance 18
CR: Tom Griscom/FOX.

The Top 6 will compete in the Movies Challenge on tonight’s new episode of So You Think You Can Dance.

The dancers will once again split into two groups and compete in movie-themed dances.

The episode opens with the Top 6 doing a Hip Hop routine with a school classroom theme.

The groups will film movie-inspired dances and one dancer will be eliminated at the end.

Group 1 – Easton, Jaylin and Madison –

Group 1 is choreographed by Chris Scott and will do an old timey-inspired routine to “When the Sun Goes Down” from In The Heights.

Madison and Easton dance beautifully together. Easton’s got some tricks up his sleeve during this one. Madison is killing this one though, and Jaylin is perfecting it in his own style.

JoJo says she loved watching Jaylin on screen and Maks says he deserves the flowers, but the other two showed him up a little. Allison says Easton was a leading man, but she doesn’t feel like she’s learned anything new about him. Maks says Madison showed the biggest jump in this challenge.

Group 2 – Mariyah, Anthony and Dakayla –

Group 2 is choreographed by Jamal Sims and will do a Frankenstein-inspired routine to “Footloose.”

Insanely cute concept with this one. Anthony destroyed this! And the girls killed it too! And that classic Footloose choreo near the end and Dakayla giving her man a kiss at the end!

Allison calls Anthony a star. JoJo calls Dakayla beautiful and that she committed to character. Allison says she would have liked a better transition in character with Dakayla. Maks gives Mariyah advice on critiquing herself and calls her a megastar.

The bottom three are Dakayla, Mariyah and Jaylin.

Mariyah – Solo

Mariyah does a very theatrical Jazz Funk routine with impressive fluidity.

Jaylin – Solo

Jaylin is good at his pop ‘n lock style but he’s made it clear he struggles in other areas compared to the other dancers.

Dakayla – Solo

Dakayla is really unique with her choreo, but it’s starting to become repetitive in her solos.

The dancer being eliminated is… Jaylin.
