A new episode of Survivor 44 airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.
The tribe returns to camp after tribal council. Danny says everything went according to plan. He played his hidden immunity idol on Frannie to blindside Brandon. Lauren regrets not splitting the votes. Yam Yam knew the plan, but he voted for Frannie to play double agent. Yam Yam points out how the last three castaways eliminated all voted for him.
The next morning, Kane says he has now woken up. He was feeling comfortable, but now he realizes he needs to get his head in the game. He wants to target Danny. Meanwhile, Danny goes searching for a hidden immunity idol. Everyone is aware Danny is hunting for an idol, so they go searching too. Eventually, Heidi finds the hidden immunity idol. She doesn’t plan to let anyone else know.
The castaways bond without talking game. Carolyn says these are her favorite moments. She likes getting to know her fellow castaways and not be strategizing all the time. Carolyn opens up about her past struggles with addiction. She is thirteen years sober now and has a nice family life back home. Carolyn notes how people in the game are more open to working with her now than they were at the beginning of the game. She still wants to come across as clueless so they underestimate her, but she asserts in her confessional that she’s playing the game hard.
The castaways get tree mail. They’re informed they’ll have a chance to negotiate for more rice at the challenge. If enough people sit out, then they will receive the rice. No one is willing to sit out except for Carson, but he hopes they will change their minds. Later, they greet Jeff at the immunity challenge while it’s pouring down rain. It’s an endurance challenge that requires them to stand on a small block while balancing a ball on an overhanging piece of wood. If the ball drops or they step off their block, then they are eliminated from the challenge. The last person standing wins. Jeff asks who is willing to sit out. Lauren and Carson are willing to sit out, but Jeff wants four people. Everyone else is hesitant until Danny says he won’t vote for any of the people sitting out. Carolyn says she won’t either. Finally, Kane agrees to sit out. Jaime almost sits out, but she changes her mind at the last minute. As a result, Heidi volunteers to sit out. Lauren, Carson, Kane, and Heidi sit out of the challenge. The challenge begins, and Carolyn is the first eliminated. Jaime is eliminated next. Yam Yam drops his ball next. Frannie and Danny are the last two left. Danny drops his ball. Frannie wins immunity!
The castaways return to camp after the immunity challenge. Kane doesn’t regret sitting out since he doesn’t think he would have won anyway. He also doubts Danny will keep his word about not voting for any of the sit-outs. After they enjoy their rice, they start strategizing. The former Soka tribe members want to target Kane, and they hope they can count on the former Tika tribe members for numbers. Meanwhile, the former Ratu members want to target Danny. They want to split the votes between Danny and Heidi. Lauren also gives Jaime her extra vote advantage in case there’s a Knowledge is Power advantage. Jaime also hands her idol to Kane (but she doesn’t know it’s a fake idol). Carolyn, Carson, and Yam Yam are in the middle and will decide what to do. Frannie is aware of this, and she brings up the idea of voting out Yam Yam to Danny and Heidi. Danny does not agree with this plan. He points out Lauren’s extra vote advantage and Jaime’s possible hidden immunity idol (she has a fake idol). He says Tika is not a threat to them. Before tribal council, Carolyn and Yam Yam decide what to do. Yam Yam thinks Kane is the bigger threat, but Carolyn would rather see Danny get voted out. Carson says they need to get on the same page since they’re the ones deciding who goes home tonight.
It’s time for tribal council. Jeff begins the discussion about the challenge and negotiation. Heidi does not regret sitting out, but she hopes she doesn’t go home tonight. Kane says he doesn’t believe the sit-outs will be safe. He says words have been broken before. Jeff points out how Danny said “Scout’s honor” at the challenge, but Danny admits to Jeff that he’s not a Scout. Jaime says their decisions to sit out or not reveal how they’re playing the game, but Danny disagrees. Carolyn says the rice changed them by lifting their spirits. Jeff asks about the vibe at camp after the challenge. Yam Yam says he was paranoid. Jeff asks if it’s become a more individual game now. Lauren says former tribe bonds are still there, but she’s thinking about her individual game and who has lied to her before. Frannie says they all wonder about the plans that have been discussed, and Heidi brings up how advantages can change everything. Yam Yam says they all have a plan, but who is the one being voted out? Jeff asks them if they like playing a chaotic season, or do they prefer a calm season. Kane likes the chaotic season, and Danny says it’s always a live tribal. Afterwards, whispering starts. There are several whispered conversations as they reassure each other what the plan is. Carson tells Carolyn it’s still the same plan, and Jaime wonders if she should play her idol. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.
We see Jaime play Lauren’s extra vote advantage that was handed to her before tribal council. Before Jeff reads the votes, no one plays a hidden immunity idol.
The first vote is for…
