Survivor Season 48 Week 7 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

The tribe returns to camp after tribal council. Mitch is surprised and disappointed that his close ally Charity was voted out. Kyle explains to Mitch that he voted for Charity since she threw his name out. Mitch is unhappy he was excluded from the plan. He doesn’t like people he trusted weren’t honest with him. He talks to Sai too to do some damage control. He claims he didn’t want to vote for her. She doesn’t believe him, especially since he’s voted for her twice now.

Cedrek received one vote at tribal council. He wonders if it was from Sai, but he’s unsure. Sai voted for him, but she lies and tells him it might’ve been Charity. In her confessional, Sai says she voted for Cedrek so he can feel some heat.

The next morning, Shauhin and Mitch talk. Shauhin says he was instructed not to give Mitch a heads up. Mitch says being blindsided was a rude awakening, but he has to move forward. He talks to Joe and Shauhin to get to know them better. He also shares his story, and he hopes he could have people on his side. However, in his confessional, Joe thinks Mitch is a threat that can win the game.

After receiving votes, Sai wants to build connections with people to stay alive in the game. She talks to Shauhin. In his confessional, Shauhin says it was surprising that Sai approached him. Sai says she thinks Shauhin is someone she could work with. Shauhin admits Sai is someone he might’ve worked with if they started on the same tribe. Cedrek approaches Shauhin later too, and Shauhin notes how the three people on the outs have all talked to him. Shauhin believes he is in a good position. If anyone wants to make a move, he thinks they’ll want to make it with him.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge requiring them to hold onto 25% of their pregame body weight. They will also be divided into two groups and go to separate tribal councils. The person to last the longest will win peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for his or her group. This group will also attend tribal council second. The person voted out of the first tribal council will be the last person to miss out on the jury.

Orange – Star, Joe, Mitch, Chrissy, Eva, and Sai

Purple – Kyle, Shauhin, Cedrek, Mary, David, and Kamilla

The challenge begins. Cedrek drops almost immediately. Star drops next, and she’s followed by Chrissy. Sai drops next. Kamilla is the next to drop. Mary drops next, and she’s followed by Shauhin. Mitch is the next to drop. Only two people remain from both groups: Eva vs. Joe for Orange and David vs. Kyle for Purple. Eventually, Eva is the next to drop. Joe wins immunity! He must stay in the challenge to try to win peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Kyle drops next. David wins immunity! Now it’s Joe vs. David for reward and to attend the second tribal council. After 52 minutes, Joe’s bucket falls. The Purple Group with David, Kyle, Shauhin, Mary, Kamilla, and Cedrek win reward and will go to tribal council second. The Orange Group will go back to the old Civa camp before going to tribal council first.

We next see the Purple Group enjoy their picnic reward. In his confessional, David says Cedrek is the only person he wants to vote out tonight. David feels like he is in a good spot in the game. In his confessional, Cedrek is worried he’ll be voted out. He doesn’t have any alliances in this group. In his confessional, Kyle admits he wants to vote out Shauhin, but he doesn’t think he can make that move yet.

Meanwhile, the other castaways arrive at the old Civa camp. Joe points out how Mitch and Sai are the two people on the outs in the group. Sai tries to give a pitch to Joe, but he’s noncommittal. Sai is determined to keep trying to stay alive. Sai talks to Eva, and she tells him she will vote for Mitch. Sai is worried about Mitch’s Block-a-Vote advantage too. Eva says in her confessional that Sai is likely to be the next person voted out, but she admits that Mitch could be a big threat.

David, Shauhin, and Mary discuss the vote. They agree to vote for Cedrek. Shauhin is the decoy vote, which worries Shauhin. Kyle tells Cedrek he’s going to vote for Shauhin with him, but this is currently a lie even though he would prefer to vote out Shauhin. Later, Kyle and Kamilla discuss their options. They want to create a lie to make David turn against Shauhin.

Kamilla talks to David, and she speculates that Shauhin could have a hidden immunity idol. She says Shauhin could make a move tonight. David says they might have to be skeptical of Shauhin, but they can trust him now. In his confessional, David is torn which way to go.

Back at the old Civa camp, Chrissy is concerned about Mitch staying in the game. She shares her thoughts with Star, and Star agrees that Mitch is a strong competitor. Later, Chrissy approaches Sai about voting out Mitch. Sai feels a bit better since Chrissy has stayed true to her word before. Meanwhile, Mitch tells Joe about his Block-a-Vote advantage. He is thinking about using it on Sai tonight to build trust with Joe. In his confessional, Joe admits Sai is the safe move, but the smarter move would be to vote out Mitch.

It’s time for the first tribal council. Joe says they’re all missing home, but they can see the finish line for the first time. Star says they all have to see what everyone is thinking. Eva says they all have different relationships. She adds how there are some people she only met a few days ago. Chrissy says they all were going to talk to each other and not be secretive about having game talks. Sai says she was “ready to tango.” She believes she had honest conversations today. Chrissy doesn’t think playing loyal or honest will win the game of Survivor. Joe counters that some people in past seasons did make it to the end of the game by staying loyal. Chrissy disagrees. She says you need to have a resume to win the game. Mitch agrees they need to make moves, but making the smart move is the best one. Mitch points out he was on the wrong side of the vote twice. He wants to make sure people can trust him. Joe agrees that it’s a good way to build bonds with people. Finally, it’s time for the vote. At the voting booth, Sai learns that her vote has been blocked tonight.

Sai is the seventh person voted out of Survivor 48. She takes her elimination in stride as she gets her torch snuffed and walks away.

It’s time for the second tribal council. Jeff reminds them that that person voted out here will be the first member of the jury. Kamilla says they want jurors who respect their game. Shauhin thinks it’s still too early to have preferences on who sits on the jury. They need to figure out their alliances first, and they can prove loyalty tonight. Cedrek says “game recognizes game.” Jeff says that sounds like thinking of making a move tonight. Kyle says they have to decide between short-term and long-term game moves. David says it feels like his safety gives him power, and people have been coming up to him to ask what he’s going to do. Shauhin says they can’t panic and just prove their trust to people. Mary says everyone here trusted each other at the last tribal council, but someone is about to be blindsided. She says it won’t be personal. David says luck sometimes plays a factor in the vote. Shauhin says all the talk tonight can be “smoke and mirrors,” but what’s the smoke and what’s the mirror? Finally, it’s time for the vote.
