The Amazing Race 35 Recap – The Teams Head to India

The episode begins with the teams learning their next destination: Jaipur, India. They all fly to Jaipur and take taxis to go to the Amber Palace. Once there, they must carry a bundle of sugarcane up to the palace courtyard. All the teams arrive there at the same time and trek up to the courtyard. Once they get their next clue, they learn they have a Roadblock to complete. One team member must follow a short choreographed routine while balancing three pots on their head. Attempting the Roadblock are Ian, Ashlie, Anna Leigh, Corey, Morgan, Garrett, Chelsea, Andrea, Yeremi, and John. Everyone is struggling with the balancing, especially Corey.

Anna Leigh is the first to complete the Roadblock. She and Steve can now proceed to their next location: Panna Meena ka Kund. John is the second person to complete the Roadblock. Morgan completes it next. Todd gets impatient that Ashlie hasn’t attempted the challenge yet. She’s still practicing the routine. Several teams keep failing the dance, but eventually Andrea completes the task. She’s followed by Chelsea.

Morgan & Lena and Greg & John work together when they arrive at Panna Meena ka Kund, but Steve & Anna Leigh find the clue box first. They learn they have a Detour to complete: All Dolled Up or The Big Picture. All Dolled Up requires teams to make two marionettes and make them dance in a puppet show. The Big Picture requires teams to wear costumes and match characters in a piece of artwork. Steve & Anna Leigh choose All Dolled Up.

The next team members to complete the Roadblock are Yeremi, Ashlie, Ian, and Garrett. Corey is the last one left at the Roadblock. Meanwhile, Morgan & Lena and Greg & John agree to continue working together to find The Big Picture Detour.

More teams arrive at the next clue box at Panna Meena ka Kund. Andrea & Malaina, Robbin & Chelsea, Liam & Yeremi, Todd & Ashlie, and Joe & Ian choose to do The Big Picture Detour. Meanwhile, Corey finally completes the Roadblock after fifteen attempts. He and Rob make their way to Panna Meena ka Kund. Joel & Garrett are already there and choose All Dolled Up.

While teams are working on their chosen Detours, Rob & Corey arrive at Panna Meena ka Kund and choose All Dolled up. There is only one vacant station remaining at The Big Picture Detour. Joe & Ian and Todd & Ashlie race to find the Detour location, and Joe & Ian get there first. Todd & Ashlie must now turn around and make their way to the All Dolled Up Detour.

Steve & Anna Leigh perform their puppet show and get their next clue. They can now proceed to the Pit Stop: Gatore Ki Chhatriyan. Greg & John are the first to complete The Big Picture Detour. Morgan & Lena see if they pass too, but they are told twice they are incorrect. Meanwhile, Todd & Ashlie and Joel & Garrett are assembling their marionettes.

Steve & Anna Leigh arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil gives them the good news. Steve & Anna Leigh are Team #1! They each win $3,000. Phil also lets them know that there will be a U-Turn vote at the upcoming leg.

Rob & Corey finally arrive at the All Dolled Up Detour. They are in last place, but they can still make up time. Meanwhile, Greg & John arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #2.

Joel & Garrett complete their puppet show and can make their way to the Pit Stop. Meanwhile multiple teams keep failing to match the murals they’re trying to bring to life. They’re missing small details to match the example to the life-size mural they must insert themselves into. Eventually, Andrea & Malaina are the next team to complete The Big Picture Detour. They can proceed to the Pit Stop, as well as Todd & Ashlie who just completed their puppet show.

Rob & Corey manage to complete their Detour next. The other teams’ struggles at The Big Picture Detour allows them to pull ahead and put them in sixth place. Morgan & Lena are especially struggling, repeatedly missing key details they must match. Morgan & Lena decide to switch Detours.

Robbin & Chelsea are the next to complete The Big Picture Detour. While Morgan & Lena get started on All Dolled Up, Joel & Garrett and Andrea & Malaina arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #3 and Team #4 respectively. While they’re still on the mat, Todd & Ashlie arrive as Team #5. Soon afterwards, Rob & Corey join them as Team #6.

Liam & Yeremi complete The Big Picture Detour while Joe & Ian are still struggling. After Robin & Chelsea arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #7, Joe & Ian finally realize their mistake. At the same time, Morgan & Lena complete the All Dolled Up Detour. It’s a very close race as Joe & Ian and Morgan & Lena depart for the Pit Stop at the same time. It’s a race as they try to get there before the other team. Morgan & Lena’s rickshaw start in front of Joe & Ian, but Joe & Ian manage to pull ahead. However, Morgan & Lena’s driver takes them to a shortcut while Joe & Ian get stuck in traffic.

Liam & Yeremi greet Phil as Team #8. But who will greet Phil next?

Morgan & Lena join Liam & Yeremi on the mat. Morgan & Lena are Team #9. While both teams are still on the mat, Joe & Ian join them. Phil gives them the bad news. Joe & Ian have been eliminated from the race.
