The Amazing Race 36 Recap Week 2 Live Blog: The race continues in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

The race continues in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Teams must proceed to the Iguana Bridge to find their next clue. Rod & Leticia arrive there first with Ricky & Cesar right behind him. They learn they have a Detour to complete: Balloon Collection or Color Correction. The former requires teams to get six bunches of balloons from three different areas and deliver them. The latter requires teams to search through strings of papel picado for one with an incorrect color pattern. Both teams choose Balloon Collection. While Ricky & Cesar are working on the Balloon Collection Detour, they run into Derek & Shelisa. They ask where to find the Iguana Bridge, but Ricky & Cesar remain tightlipped.

Rod & Leticia complete the Detour and get their next clue. They can proceed to Lázaro Cárdenas Park. Ricky & Cesar complete the Detour too. Meanwhile, Derek & Shelisa and Juan & Shane are the next teams to find the clue box at Iguana Bridge. They also choose Balloon Collection. Sean & Michelle and Yvonne & Melissa finally begin the leg too.

Rod & Leticia and Ricky & Cesar arrive at Lázaro Cárdenas Park. They learn they have a Roadblock to complete. One team member must paint a Day of the Dead calavera design on their team member’s face. Leticia chooses to paint Rod’s face. Ricky paints Cesar’s face.

The remaining teams Anthony & Bailey, Sunny & Bizzy, Angie & Danny, Kishori & Karishma, Chris & Mary, and Amber & Vinny finally begin the leg. As they get started, Derek & Shelisa and Juan & Shane deliver their balloons. Sunny & Bizzy arrive at Iguana Bridge and choose the Color Correction Detour. Meanwhile, Sean & Michelle are lost.

Team No. 1 arrives at the pit stop

Sunny & Bizzy get started on the Color Correction Detour as Anthony & Bailey arrive at Iguana Bridge. They choose the Color Correction Detour too. Anthony & Bailey arrive, but they think the task is too hard. They switch to Balloon Collection. After they leave, Angie & Danny arrive at the Color Correction Detour. They also think the Detour is too difficult and switch. Sunny & Bizzy remain at the Color Correction Detour.

Rod & Leticia complete the Roadblock and can proceed to the Pit Stop: Casa Kimberly. They must also travel by foot while donning monarch butterfly wings. Shortly afterwards, Ricky & Cesar complete the Roadblock too. After they leave, Derek & Shelisa arrive at the Roadblock. Shelisa chooses to paint Derek’s face. Yvonne & Melissa also complete the Balloon Collection Detour. Meanwhile, Anthony & Bailey finally find the Balloon Collection Detour. Sunny & Bizzy are still struggling completing the Color Correction Detour.

Sean & Michelle arrive at the Roadblock. They didn’t find Iguana Bridge yet, so they’ve jumped ahead by skipping tasks. Michelle gets started painting Sean’s face, not knowing they’re making a mistake by beginning the Roadblock earlier than they should. Meanwhile, Angie & Danny help Amber & Vinny with directions to find the Balloon Collection Detour.

Rod & Leticia greet Phil at the Pit Stop. He gives them the good news. Rod & Leticia are Team #1! Shortly afterwards, Ricky & Cesar join them on the mat as Team #2. Phil also lets Rod & Leticia know they’ve won Expedia points for a trip to Lisbon, Portugal.

Looking for the bridge

Kishori & Karishma can’t find Iguana Bridge, but they find the clue box for the Roadblock. They join Sean & Michelle and Derek & Shelisa at the Roadblock, but Kishori & Karishma are unsure if they’re at the right spot. Juan & Shane arrive at the Roadblock, and they let them know there is a Detour before the Roadblock. Kishori & Karishma and Sean & Michelle must wipe the paint off and go back and find Iguana Bridge.

Derek & Shelisa complete the Roadblock and can now proceed to the Pit Stop. Meanwhile, Anthony & Bailey complete the Balloon Collection Detour. Angie & Danny complete the Detour too, but Sunny & Bizzy are still working on their chosen Detour. Amber & Vinny and Chris & Mary finally find Iguana Bridge. Shortly afterwards, Kishori & Karishma and Sean & Michelle arrive there too.

Chris & Mary and Kishori & Karishma join Sunny & Bizzy at the Color Correction Detour. Meanwhile, Derek & Shelisa greet Phil at the Pit Stop as Team #3. Anthony & Bailey arrive at the Roadblock with Juan & Shane and Yvonne & Melissa already there. Juan & Shane are the next to complete the Roadblock and can proceed to the Pit Stop.

Amber & Vinny complete the Balloon Collection Detour, getting ahead of the teams at the Color Correction Detour. Chris & Mary choose to switch Detours. After they leave, Sunny & BIzzy finally complete the Detour. After they see Sean & Michelle complete the Balloon Collection Detour, Kishori & Karishma choose to switch Detours too.

Juan & Shane greet Phil as Team #4. Kishori & Karishma are the next to complete the Balloon Collection Detour, but Chris & Mary are right behind them. Meanwhile, Angie & Danny arrive at the Roadblock. Danny chooses to paint Angie’s face. Bailey is still painting Anthony’s face. Yvonne & Melissa are the next team to complete the Roadblock. Sunny & Bizzy, Amber & Vinny, and Sean & Michelle are at the Roadblock too.

Overcome by heat

The heat is getting to Chris, and he requests to stop and rest for a moment. Back at the Roadblock, Anthony & Bailey complete the Roadblock. They ask a local for directions to where the Pit Stop is. The heat is also getting to Angie, and she needs to lie down and rest.

Yvonne & Melissa greet Phil as Team #5. Next we see Angie & Danny and Amber & Vinny completing the Roadblock. After they leave, Kishori & Karishma arrive. They get started while Sean & Michelle and Sunny & Izzy are trying to finish up. Chris & Mary have yet to arrive at the Roadblock. Anthony & Bailey are lost trying to find the Pit Stop.

Chris & Mary arrive at the Roadblock. After Mary gets started painting Chris’s face, Sean & Michelle complete the Roadblock. Meanwhile, Angie & Danny are the next team to greet Phil. Phil lets them know they are Team #6. While they’re still on the mat, Amber & Vinny and Anthony & Bailey arrive at the Pit Stop together.

Sunny & Bizzy and Kishori & Karishma complete the Roadblock. Soon afterwards, Chris & Mary complete the Roadblock too. It’s now a footrace to get to the Pit Stop to avoid last place. Sunny & Bizzy are the next to greet Phil as Team #9.

Which teams will be the next to arrive at the Pit Stop? Sean & Michelle are struggling to find the Pit Stop, allowing Kishori & Karishma to arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #10. Later, we see Sean & Michelle greet Phil as Team #11.

Chris & Mary arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil gives them the bad news. Chris & Mary have been eliminated from the race. They are disappointed, but they say they are proud of each other. They’re thrilled to have been part of the show.
