The Amazing Race 36 Week 8 Live Blog

Today’s leg will take place in Bridgetown, Barbados. Ricky & Cesar and Angie & Danny depart in the first group. They read their clue and learn they must drive themselves to Fairfield/Black Rock to find their next clue. We hear a confessional from Ricky. He says the race has strengthened their relationship. They plan to start a family in the near future too. Angie & Danny don’t know where to go, so they choose to follow Ricky & Cesar. Ricky & Cesar are unsure where to go too, so they stop and ask for directions at a gas station. It starts raining heavily by the time Ricky & Cesar and Angie & Danny start driving again.

Rod & Leticia and Amber & Vinny depart in the second group. Amber says she’s learning a lot about herself and Vinny during the race. She says they always struggled how to work together yet they work well alone. Rod is very proud of Leticia and calls her a great teammate and wife. Both these teams stop to ask for directions, but they ask different locals for help.

Yvonne & Melissa and Juan & Shane depart in the third group. Yvonne & Melissa ask for directions before getting in their car. Juan & Shane say they’ve been getting along really well, but they admit they need to step up their game. Yvonne & Melissa have been dating for three years. Melissa is ready to move in together, but Yvonne wants to take it slow.

Visiting a famous pop star’s home

Ricky & Cesar find the clue box first. They learn they have a Roadblock to complete. One team member must score eleven points in a game of road tennis. They will play against a local. Ricky chooses to do the Roadblock. Meanwhile, the other teams are still struggling navigating in the rain. Ricky manages to get eleven points before any other teams arrive. He gets the next clue, and he and Cesar learn they must drive to the childhood home of Rihanna. After they leave, Angie & Danny arrive. Angie chooses to do the Roadblock since she played and coached tennis.

Ricky & Cesar arrive outside Rihanna’s childhood home. The clue is inside the mailbox. They learn they must now drive themselves to Long Bay Beach. Meanwhile, Angie completes the Roadblock before another team arrives. She and Danny can depart for Rihanna’s house too. Angie asks who is Rihanna, and he’s flabbergasted she doesn’t know who she is. He tells her she’s a very famous pop singer. Angie asks him what songs does she sing, but he’s unable to name a single Rihanna song.

Juan & Shane stop to ask for directions. They ask a local to borrow a phone to look up where to go. Amber & Vinny are also lost. Meanwhile, Yvonne & Melissa arrive at the Roadblock. Yvonne does the Roadblock, even though Melissa says she’s the better tennis player. While Yvonne is still working on the Roadblock, Rod & Leticia arrive. Leticia chooses to do the Roadblock.

Breaking the rules

Amber & Vinny stop to ask for directions again while Leticia is struggling with the Roadblock. Angie & Danny find the clue in the mailbox outside Rihanna’s childhood home. Meanwhile, Juan & Shane arrive at the Roadblock shortly before Yvonne gets her eleventh point. After they leave, Juan gets started on the Roadblock. Leticia completes the Roadblock next. After Rod & Leticia leave, Amber & Vinny finally arrive. Vinny chooses to do the Roadblock. Both Juan and Vinny manage to complete the Roadblock.

Ricky & Cesar are unsure where to go, and Ricky gets anxious not knowing where he’s supposed to drive to. They stop and ask for directions, and they feel like they are back on track. Yvonne & Melissa and Rod & Leticia find the next clue outside Rihanna’s house, and they depart for Long Bay Beach. Juan & Shane get lost again, allowing Amber & Vinny to find the next clue before them. Juan & Shane realize they are in last place when they finally find the clue telling them to proceed to Long Bay Beach.

While driving, Angie & Danny end up getting separated from their crew member at a roundabout. It’s against The Amazing Race rules for the teams to be separated from their crew. Angie and the crew member driving behind them took different turns.

Ricky & Cesar arrive at Long Bay Beach. They learn they have a Detour to complete: Fish Pot Building or Seaweed Clearing. The former requires teams to build a fish pot that is sturdy enough, and the latter requires teams to pick up enough seaweed from the beach that fills up one barrel. Ricky & Cesar initially chose Seaweed Clearing, but they quickly switch to Fish Pot Building to not run back and forth in the sand. Meanwhile, the teams behind them are struggling driving while not knowing exactly where to go.

Team No. 1 arrives

Angie & Danny arrive at Long Bay Beach, but they must sit and wait in their car until their crew arrives. Yvonne & Melissa arrive, and they choose to do the Fish Pot Building Detour after some hesitation between the two options. Amber & Vinny arrive next, and they also choose Fish Pot Building. Rod & Leticia are the next to show up, and they join the others at the Fish Pot Building Detour.

Angie & Danny’s crew finally arrives. They were in second place, but now they’re racing to avoid last place. They decide to do Fish Pot Building too. After they get started, Ricky & Cesar complete the Detour. They can now proceed to the Pit Stop: Hastings Rocks.

Juan & Shane finally arrive. They choose to do Seaweed Clearing. After they get started, Rod & Leticia get their fish pot inspected. They do not pass, so they must make corrections. Juan & Shane are able to fill up half their barrel with their first trip with the wheelbarrow, so they realize they can pass the other teams. Juan & Shane fill up 90% of their barrel on their second trip. They go back for more seaweed, and they complete the Detour. They passed the other teams and can now proceed to the Pit Stop in second place.

Ricky & Cesar greet Phil at the Pit Stop. He gives them the good news. Once again, Ricky & Cesar are Team #1! They have won $7,500 each. Meanwhile, Amber & Vinny complete the Detour. They can proceed to the Pit Stop now. Yvonne & Melissa complete it next. Rod & Leticia, however, fail their second inspection. They realize their mistake, so they quickly make corrections.

From last place to second place

Juan & Shane arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #2. Phil gives them kudos for going from last place to second place. Back at the Detour, Rod & Leticia complete the task. They can depart for the Pit Stop now, leaving behind only Angie & Danny.

Amber & Vinny arrive at the Pit Stop next, and Yvonne & Melissa join them on the mat shortly afterwards. Phil lets them know they are Team #3 and Team #4 respectively. Meanwhile, Angie & Danny complete the Detour. They can make their way to the Pit Stop now, but is it too late for them? Rod & Leticia do end up getting their car stuck in the mud, but Rod manages to push the car out. But did Angie & Danny pass them?

Rod & Leticia arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil lets them know they are Team #5. Angie & Danny arrive some time afterwards. Phil gives them the bad news. Angie & Danny have been eliminated from the race. Danny says it’s been everything he’s dreamed of. Angie says she loves Danny and she feels privileged running the race with him.
