A new episode of The Amazing Race airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.
The episode begins with Jonathan & Ana reading their next clue informing them of their next destination: Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Phil also teases that, unbeknownst to the racers, there will be a live Double U-Turn vote there. Jonathan & Ana arrive at the sanctuary, but they see a sign telling them it won’t open until 8:00 a.m.
All the teams arrive at the sanctuary. Scott & Lori let Jonathan & Ana know that they felt betrayed by their decision with the Driver’s Seat. They hug it out, and Scott & Lori claim it’s water under the bridge. The sanctuary opens, and the teams are surprised to see Phil waiting for them. He lets them know about the Double U-Turn vote. The top two vote-getters will be U-Turned. After the teams discuss whom to vote for, they all reveal their votes.
Brett & Mark voted for Scott & Lori.
Jonathan & Ana voted for Nick & Mike.
Pops & Jeff voted for Jonathan & Ana.
Han & Holden voted for Scott & Lori.
Melinda & Erika voted for Scott & Lori.
Carson & Jack voted for Jonathan & Ana.
Nick & Mike voted for Scott & Lori.
Alyssa & Josiah voted for Jonathan & Ana.
Scott & Lori voted for Jonathan & Ana.
Scott & Lori and Jonathan & Ana have been U-Turned. All the teams get their next clue, and learn they must proceed to Pantai Pandawa. Han & Holden arrive there first. They learn they have a Detour to complete: Coconuts or Coral. Coconuts requires teams to use a bike to deliver 60 coconuts to a beach cafe. Coral requires teams to attach five species of coral onto a frame and then plant it on the ocean floor. Han & Holden choose Coconuts. Brett & Mark choose Coral. More teams reach the clue box. Nick & Mike choose Coconuts, Carson & Jack choose Coral, Alyssa & Josiah chooses Coconuts, and Melinda & Erika choose Coconuts. Jonathan & Ana choose to do the Coconuts Detour first, but they change their minds and go to the Coral Detour. Pops & Jeff choose Coconuts. Scott & Lori arrive last, and they choose to do Coconuts first.
As Carson & Jack and Brett & Mark are making progress on the Coral Detour, Jonathan & Ana are doing it wrong. They don’t realize they need to match the pattern of the example on display. Carson & Jack and Brett & Mark pass on their first attempt, and they are the first to complete the Detour. They can now proceed to Nusa Dua Beach. Jonathan & Ana pass on their sixth attempt, but they struggle planting their frame onto the ocean. Ana has a fear of open water, and the strong waves keep pushing them back to shore. They eventually complete the task.
The other teams are taking multiple trips with their bike to deliver the coconuts. Alyssa & Josiah are the first to complete the Coconuts Detour with Scott & Lori close behind them. Pops & Jeff and Nick & Mike are getting close to completing the Detour too.
Jonathan & Ana and Scott & Lori make their way to their second Detour while Melinda & Erika and Han & Holsen are finishing up the Coconuts Detour. Jonathan gets frustrated as the coconuts fall off the bike. Scott & Lori struggle differentiating the different coral.
Carson & Jack reach the Roadblock at Nusa Dua Beach. One team member must swim out into the water with a surfboard and find a surfer with an identical sticker on their surfboard. Jack chooses to do the Roadblock. Brett & Mark arrive shortly afterwards. Brett chooses to do the Roadblock. Jack begins the task, but he is confused. He thinks he has to match the color of the surfboard instead of the sticker. Brett grew up surfing, so he feels confident doing this task.
Scott & Lori struggle with the Coral Detour. They keep failing their checks, unable to correctly place the coral at the right spots on the frame. Jonathan & Ana make better progress delivering their coconuts, but Jonathan is frustrated and being short with Ana.
Back at the Roadblock, Brett finds his match. As he makes his way back to shore, Alyssa & Josiah arrive. Josiah chooses to do the Roadblock. Brett & Mark receive their next clue and learn they can make their way on foot to the Pit Stop: Taksu Art Stage. Jack continues to struggle with the Roadblock, but he finally finds his match. Josiah begins the Roadblock as Jack makes his way back to shore.
Brett & Mark arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil gives them the good news. Brett & Mark are Team #1! They have each won $5,000. Carson & Jack arrive later as Team #2. Meanwhile, Pops & Jeff are the next team to arrive at the Roadblock. Pops chooses to do the Roadblock. Back at the Detour, Jonathan & Ana finish delivering their coconuts. Scott & Lori finish the Coral Detour too.
Ana tries to lift Jonathan’s spirits to not give up, but he curtly tells her he has a headache. At the Roadblock, Han chooses to do the Roadblock. As she gets started, Alyssa & Josiah greet Phil as Team #3. Nick & Mike arrive at the Roadblock next. Mike chooses to do the Roadblock.
Pops completed the Roadblock, and he and Jeff proceed to the Pit Stop. Pops & Jeff are Team #4. Mike struggles with the Roadblock, but he finally finds his match. Melinda & Erika arrive next. Erika chooses to do the Roadblock, and she completes the Roadblock very quickly. Meanwhile, Han & Holden greet Phil as Team #5. Nick & Mike take a wrong turn on the way to the Pit Stop, allowing Melinda & Erika to pass them. Melinda & Erika arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #6. Nick & Mike join them on the mat minutes afterwards as Team #7.
Jonathan & Ana arrive at the Roadblock. Jonathan chooses to do the Roadblock. After he gets started, Scott & Lori join them at the Roadblock. Scott chooses to do the Roadblock. It will be a close race between these last two teams. Jonathan finds his match first, but Scott does too. Jonathan is exhausted and keeps taking breaks paddling back to shore.
Jonathan & Ana get their clue while Scott is still out in the water. Scott reaches shore, but Jonathan & Ana aren’t too far ahead. Which team will reach the Pit Stop next? Jonathan & Ana greet Phil as Team #8. Scott & Lori arrive some time afterwards. Phil gives them the bad news. Scott & Lori have been eliminated from the race. Scott breaks down in tears. Scott says they’re the best team, and that’s why they were targeted. Lori says it was so much fun, and it’s an adventure they’ll remember.
