The dates are notable. American Idol was originally scheduled to air on Monday March 4 and Monday March 11. But with The Bachelor garnering great ratings this season–a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo in the last two weeks–it makes sense for ABC to lengthen the season. Can the second season of American Idol earn ratings as high as a 1.8 on ABC? That question remains to be answered.
