The Masked Singer 10 Week 3 2000s Night: Find Out Who Was Unmasked!
Remember the 2000s? When FOX was the No. 1 network because of their death star TV competition show American Idol? Surely FOX remembers, which is why they are revisiting the era as a The Masked Singer theme for season 10.
Nick Cannon is host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger sit on the judges panel.
The mystery celebrities competing tonight include Gazelle, Pickle, S’More, Cow. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night. The surviving competitors will move on to the Group A semi-finals. Additionally, former Masked Singer winner Jewell performs her hit “Standing Still.”
Pickle
Clues: He has a salty side and is outspoken. He’s butted heads with a bunch of people, including online publications. He loves public feuds. But also loves reconciling.
Performance: Beverly Hills by Weezer – Pickle is hilarious, but he’s not a good singer at all. He’s totally off key compared to the background singers. IT’S PAINFUL TO LISTEN TO. By the end of the performance he’s so out of breath he might keel over. OnStage Clue: Lance Bass is delivering it. “Friends” is the clue. Pickle says, “I’ve done so many things for so many years, people associate me with my famous friends.” Jenny guesses Charlie Sheen. Ken guesses Sean Penn. Lol. Nicole guesses Joel McHale. Right.
Prediction: The internets say Pickle is actor and comedian Michael Rapaport. He’s been in the business for years and has co-starred with a bunch of people.
Gazelle
Clues: Deer are meaningful. She lost an important person very close to her at the time of her wedding. Dog tags. Cute mouse.
Performance: Lucky by Britney Spears – Gazelle has some dance moves, just like Britney. She’s got a pop voice that would have fit into the era, when a good performer could get away with average singing. On Stage Clue: Kate Flannery from The Office delivers the clue: “Gazelle Love Story.” Gazelle had her film debut in the 2000s. Robin guesses Mandy Moore. Nicole guesses Hilary Duff. Jenny guesses Ashley Tisdale.
Prediction: The internets are convinced that Gazelle is Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars.
S’more
Clues: He lived in a cabin, hung out with Carson Daly at MTV. Had a child. A can of Hairspray. He took a step back to raise his son.
Performance: Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s – He’s an OK singer. But Boyband casting is more about looks and performance ability. He’s pleasant sounding, but phrasing and nuance are non-existent. Now he’s flirting with the panel. OnStage Clue: Lance is back! S’more Bros 2000 Tour “Busy time for me I was busy touring with my bros.” Nicole guesses Jordan Knight or James Marsden. Ken guesses Rob Thomas. Jenny guesses Ashley Parker Angel (DING DING DING)
Prediction: Fans agree with Jenny. They say S’More is Ashley Parker Angel from Making the Band’s O-Town.
Cow
Clues: It all started in the 2000s for Cow. A judge gavel. His photo hangs in the Capitol Records Building.
Performance: Cry Me a River by Justin Timberlake: Cow is a girl, but the celebrity underneath the mask is obviously a guy. A very soulful guy. His vocal performance is better this week. AND he has some moves. He’s obviously a performer. Kate is back with another OnStage Clue: “Mooooosical” Cow says, “The 2000s were good to me. I got to star in a musical.” Robin guesses Ne-Yo (DING DING DING). Nicole guesses Taye Diggs.
Prediction: Robin mentioned that Ne-Yo was in a live version of The Wiz. But in the 2000s he appeared in Stomp the Yard and Save The Last Dance 2. Also, Ne-Yo appeared on the British version of The Masked Singer as Badger.
Results
Two singers will advance strait to the Group A semi-final, Gazelle and Cow. S’More and Pickle will battle it out in a SMACKDOWN. They will both sing the same song.
The two celebrities sing Sugar We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy. Pickle is first and he isn’t very good. It will be shocking if he survives. S’More can at least carry a tune.
After the performance, the panel chooses the winner.
Who is Unmasked?
The singer taking the last spot in the group a finals is….S’More! Of course. Pickle will be unmasked. Final guesses: Nicole Charlie Sheen. Ken: Howard Stern. Jenny: Conan O’Brien. These are bad guesses. Robin: Joel McHale. YIKES. The guesses got even dumber.
And Pickle is….Michael Rapaport. Just as the internets said. Nick says he knew all along. They are good friends. Pickle kept poking and grabbing at Nick on stage in a familiar way that only friends could get away with. Immediately, Michael begins roasting the room.
Group B kicks off next week with “The Songs of Elton John.”
