The Masked Singer 11 Preview: Who is Goldfish? She takes on Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’
The Masked Singer season 11 premieres on Wednesday (March 6) and here is a first look at a celebrity contestant!
Goldfish takes the stage with a passionate performance of the Olivia Rodrigo hit “Vampire.” The celebrity’s vocal has Broadway quality. The reading of the song is dramatic, punctuated by a big belting style. At the end, the judges panel are on their feet.
Who is Goldfish? Fans guess Kristin Chenoweth or Vanessa Hudgens
Fans have thoughts about who is behind the Goldfish mask. Some believe Goldfish is Broadway veteran Kristin Chenoweth. And especially at the beginning, it does sound like her! She would probably compete on a show like this, too.
However, other fans are guessing Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical. And after listening to the full performance, I tend to agree with them. Kristin, a 20 year plus veteran, has a voice that has aged like fine wine. Goldfish sounds young, especially toward the end of the performance.
Listen to Vanessa Hudgens sing “There are Worse Things I Could Do” from the FOX live musical production of Grease. Notably, Vanessa has history with the network on which THe Masked Singer airs. I’m sold, how about you? And if you aren’t who do YOU think is the singer behind the Goldfish mask?
Singer Rita Ora takes the place of Nicole Scherzinger for season 11, who is off working on other projects. She joins Masked Singer veterans Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Ken Jeong on the panel. Nick Cannon returns as host.
On Wednesday’s premiere, Rita Ora will perform, on an episode titled “Rita We Love Your Ora.” Featured masks include Goldfish, Book, Starfish, Ugly Sweater and Lovebird.
The Masked Singer 11: More themes, more masks
Season 11 will introduce all-new themed episodes, including “The Wizard of Oz,” in celebration of the 85th anniversary of the classic film, “TRANSFORMERS,” as the iconic brand celebrates its 40th anniversary, and special musical anthology episodes including “Billy Joel Night” and “Queen Night.”
Additional themes include “Girl Groups,” “Soundtrack of my Life,” “TV Theme Night,” and “Shower Anthems.” The themes will be weaved throughout the performers’ song selections, costumes, celebrity guests, set design… and may even provide clues as to WHO is under the mask.
Sixteen all-new celebrity singers will embrace the masked madness, disguised under intricate new costumes including “Gumball,” “Lizard,” “Ugly Sweater,” “Goldfish,” “Starfish,” “Book,” and more – including three new wildcards.
The Masked Singer season 11 premieres on Wednesday, March 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET) on FOX.
