The Masked Singer 12 Week 5: Who Was Unmasked on Barbie Night?
The Masked Singer season 12 continues on to week 5 with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora on the panel. This week, the panel continues with Group B contestants including Goo, Blue Bell, Wasp and Chess Piece. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.
Big news. Or not! The Ding Dong Keep it On Bell is back. If the panel wants to save a singer, it can ONLY SAVE ONE singer across three group finals.
It’s Barbie’s 65th anniversary. The show opens with some kinda dance thing. The do a bit with Ken standing off to the side to sing….I’m Just Ken of course. Who didn’t see that coming.
Bluebell
Clues: As a youngster she believed she could be a star. She got her first break and everything went wrong. A ripped polaroid. She struggled after that. But then she created a new career. She dances the night away.
Performance: Dance the Night by Dua Lipa: She’s a decent singer, and her bug costume gives her room to dance. OnStageClue: The masks dig up their favorite toys brought out by the “men in pink.” An astronaut doll. “I’ve been ready to take you out of this world ever since my arrival.” Jennifer guesses Amy Adams. Ken guesses: Anne Hathaway. BOOO chants the audience. Robin guesses: Lindsey Lohan.
Goo
Clues: There’s one go getter gal in his life. His fiance. He met her at a theme park. Fruit. A cross on a dress.
Performance: Miss Independent by Ne Yo – Goo delivers a smooth and soulful cover of this popular Ne-Yo hit. OnStageClue: A Malibu Barbie Dream House: He knows Robin is a fan of him! Ken guesses Al Greene. Uhm no. Rita guesses Kirk Franklin. What? Jenny guesses Johnny Gill. Robin agrees with Jenny.
Chess Piece
Clues: They got teased as a kid and wasn’t allowed to play with Barbie. As an adult, they began collecting Barbies, and there is even one based based on them.
Performance: I’m Every Woman by Chaka Khan. Chess Piece is referred to as “her” and maybe that’s how they identify! Last week a wondered if Chess Piece was a guy. Now I’m thinking they are maybe trans or binary? Or a drag queen. But not being allowed to play with Barbies as a kid is a big clue. Chess Piece sings with a high tenor. OnStageClue: A Barbie Vanity. Chess has the life size version. Rita guesses Tyra Banks. NOOOO. Robin guesses Misty Copeland. Terrible guess. Ken guesses Issa Rae.
Wasp
Clues: He lives with a dozen family numbers growing up. But his dad was missing. He didn’t know his purpose. He had to learn how to stand on his own. He reunited with his dad later on, who said he was proud.
Performance: Skyscraper by Demi Lovato – The night ends with a huge emotional ballad. Wasp is the best of the five singers and I would bet he moves on to the next round. He pours all the emotion into the performance. OnStageClue: “Every minute I’m out there I take my live performances to new heights.” Rita guesses Miguel. Jenny guesses Frank Ocean. Ken guesses Daveed Diggs.
Prediction: The internets say Wasp is R&B singer, Mario.
