The Masked Singer 12 Week 8: Who Was Unmasked on Miley Cyrus Night?
The Masked Singer season 12 continues on to week 8 with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora on the panel. This week, the panel continues on to Week 2 of the Group C round. Tonight’s group includes: Sherlock Hound, Strawberry Shortcake, Royal Knight and Ice King, who will compete for a spot in the next round. ONE celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.
Big news. Or not! The Ding Dong Keep it On Bell twist returned, but the panel used it in the Group B round. NOBODY in this group is eligible to be saved.
The remaining masks open the show with a performance of Miley’s “Party in the USA.”
Sherlock Hound
Clues: He was free spirited and fun. Sweet Team, cow, century long curse. Kid’s slide. He broke the curse. He reinvented himself.
Performance: Used to Be Young – The big baby crib prop is kind of weird. A man in black had to help him down some stairs. He’s at least middle-aged. Hound has a decent voice and brings the emotion in the last chorus. On Stage Clue: A long blond wig is the clue “Hanna Montana isn’t the only one without gorgeous long hair.” Ken guesses Johnny Resnick (Goo Goo Dolls). Jenny guesses Scott Stapp. Hound says, “Jenny….your husband loves me.” Rita guesses Hozier Robin guesses Nate Ruess.
Prediction: The internets believe Sherlock Hound is former baseball player, Bronson Arroyo. Remember that Barry Zito, a singer and former player, is his ambassador. Arroyo, who won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox, has released music. Check it out online–the vocals match up.
Robin jokes that he and Miley have never met. Har har har.
Ice King
Clues: This year he’s been part of a firestorm of press. He confessed, and then regretted it. Immediately, it was a disaster. But then people could relate. Lost and found.
Performance: Midnight Sky – Ice King had a recent controversy. This year. He’s a soulful singer with a boy band vibe. And his presentation is quite dramatic. On Stage Clue: A Teen Choice surfboard “Our teenage dreams came true.” Ken guesses Joe Jonas. Robin guesses Shia LaBeouf. Jenny guesses Drake Bell or James Franco.
Strawberry Shortcake
Clues: Like Miley, she grew up in the limelight. They dated some of the same people and shared a stage with Miley. A “big apple.”
Performance: Wrecking Ball – Strawberry sings like a Disney-groomed princess. Robin calls her a front runner. On Stage Clue: Boxing gloves. “Miley has aways been in my corner. She was even on my side when I made my debut.: Ken guesses Chloe Fineman. Rita guesses Hilary Duff. Robin guesses Ashley Tisdale.
Prediction: The internets say Strawberry Shortcake is AJ Michalka from AJ & Aly. Apparently, she’s good friends with her “Masked Ambassador” Hayley Orrantia.
Royal Knight
Clues: She’s had bad relationships and betrayals. Hospital scrubs. Finally, she found a happy relationship. A gumball.
Performance: When I Look at You – Royal Knight is also a solid singer. She sounds like she’s country. Her voice is familiar! On Stage Clue: Nashville. Ha! “Miley and I would prefer a Nashville party.” Rita guesses Amanda Seyfried or Kate Hudson. Jenny guesses Jennifer Love Hewitt. Ken guesses Aubrey Plaza.
PREDICTION: The internets think Royal Knight is Jana Kramer. The scrubs point to guesting on Grey’s Anatomy and she also appeared on a few episodes of Friday Night Lights.
A singer is UNMASKED. Who is it?
The audience and panel votes for their favorite singer. The mask with the least votes is unmasked. And leaving the competition is….Ice King! Final guesses: Shia Labeouf. Ken: Joe Jonas Jenny: James Franco. Robin: Cole Sprouse. And Ice King is….Drake Bell! Jenny’s guess made sense because the devastating documentary about how he was abused as a child actor. He kept that inside for a long time. Good for him.
