The Masked Singer 12 Week 4: Who Was Unmasked on Sports Night?
The Masked Singer season 12 continues on to week 4 with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora on the panel. This week, the panel moves on to Group B–ALL NEW celebrities and Sports Night.
The new masks include Goo, Dust Bunny, Blue Bell, Wasp and Chess Piece. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night. Joel McHale and Nikki Glaser will appear.
Big news. Or not! The Ding Dong Keep it On Bell is back. If the panel wants to save a singer, it can ONLY SAVE ONE singer across three group finals.
Nikki and Joel mimic a sports panel as the introduce the judges a boxers. They take the stage to pretend fight and sing “Rock You Like a Hurricane.” Well, Robin and Rita do the singing while Ken and Jenny jump around. Rita fake knocks out Robin at the end.
Wasp
Clues: Who is Wasp’s “masked ambassador” Former winner, Ne-Yo introduces his “buddy” Wasp, who fought his way out of a tough neighborhood.
Performance: Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake: Wasp’s voice sounds really familiar. No doubt the internets will guess this one immediately. His voice is a soulful and warm tunnel. He works the stage and throws in dance moves. On Stage Clue: Each mask has an “athletic shoe” that represents his life. The shoes are basketball. Robin guesses Taye Diggs. Jenny guesses Bruno Mars. Robin guesses Jason Derulo.
Prediction: The internets say Wasp is R&B singer, Mario.
Chess Piece
Clues: Nikki Glaser is Chess Piece’s “ambassador.” Chess loves a fashion moment. People doubted her, but she eventually got a leading role that changed her career.
Performance: Believe by Cher – Chess Piece presents as a female diva, but pretty sure they are a guy with a high voice. They sing the slower arrangement of the song and it’s very pretty. However, Chess Piece may not be a singer, primarily. Hm. Growing up, people told them not to sing because they were “tone deaf.” Chess Piece’s shoe is a bright yellow and green tennis match “Love serving Love.” Jenny guesses Serena Williams. Ken guesses Regina King. Rita guesses Ashley Graham.
Blue Bell
Clues: Her “ambassador” is Kelly Osbourne. They made headlines together. People gossiped about her relationships. Now, she’s found her true love. “Cargo pants and crop tops.”
Performance: We Belong by Pat Benatar – Kelly’s introduction hinted at a reality star. Maybe, but Blue Bell can carry a tune and present a song. Blue Bell’s shoes are Roller Blades. “I try to roll with the situation, but always rock it out.” Ken guesses Taylor Momsen. Rita guesses Ellie Goulding. Robin guesses Leighton Meester.
Dust Bunny
Clues: Their ambassador is Dick Van Dyke! He’s 98 years old! They are pals. Singing is a “secret ambition.” He “made coffee.” He had a face for TV. David Bowie was a co-star? Dick Van Dyke too.
Performance: Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond – OK We know who is going home tonight. Dust Bunny isn’t a singer and is probably a comic or actor. He manages to stay in key more or less, but has no tone or range. Dust Bunny’s shoe is ice skates. “My attitude is to burn through it in a blaze of glory.” Ken knows exactly who it is: Will Ferrell. Jenny guesses John C. Reilly. Rita guesses Jay Leno.
Goo
Clues: Keenan Allen is Goo’s ambassador. “I wanted to tackle everything…but I was sensitive.” He would cry in his room and became a music nerd.
Performance: Lose Control by Teddy Swims – Goo is the best singer of the night and is most certainly not going home this week. Interesting that his ambassador is an athlete. Goo is likely a professional singer. Goo’s shoe is Gold cleats with musical signatures on them. “Concentrate on the souls of the shoes.” Ken guesses Jon Batiste. Robin guesses Shabouzzy. Rita guesses Khalid.
RESULTS
The first singer of Group B to unmask after the audience voted is…Dust Bunny! Of course! Final guesses. Ken: Will Ferrell. Jenny: John C. Reilly. Rita: Jay Leno. Robin: Chevy Chase (Ken is CRACKING UP at Robin’s guess. All the Community actors hated him–including Joel!) AND THE DUST BUNNY IS ANDY RICHTER!!! I LOVE HIM! YAY. Andy spent years as Conan O’Brien’s sidekick on Late Night. AND he had a FOX TV show for a few seasons.
