The Masked Singer 13 Group B Finals: Who moves on to the next round on Grand Ole Opry Night?

The Masked Singer season 13 continues with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora on the panel. Except THIS WEEK actress Casey Wilson sits in for Rita Ora.

It’s the Group B finale featuring a Grand Ole Opry theme. Boogie Woogie, Griffin and Pearl vie for two spots in the next round. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.

The Masked Singer 13 Preview: Meet the Masks, Themes and MORE

The show opens with the celebs singing “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” by Big & Rich. Yee haw. Casey Wilson sits in for Rita. She shares about her mom who was a big country music fan.

Pearl

Clues: Pearl was invited to share a stage with Dolly Parton who found a matching outfit for her.

Performance: Here You Come Again by Dolly Parton – If the rumors are true, Grand Ole Opry was made for this celebrity. Weird that she doesn’t sound very country here. She sounds like a pop singer performing country! On Stage Clue: “Strong Arm” She says, “As a strong woman she likes nothing more than making other woman strong too.” Ken guesses Sheryl Crow. It doesn’t sound like her at all. Jenny guesses Trisha Yearwood or Kellie Pickler (NO) Casey guesses Carrie Underwood. That’s a more idiotic guess than Kellie Pickler.

Prediction: The internets say Pearl is “Red Necked Woman” star Gretchen Wilson. She delivered big country hits in the aughts. But not so much recently.

Griffin

Clues: After years in the spotlight, he moved his family to the country. He loves it. Recently he got news that changed everything. First aid kit is a clue.

Performance: Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver – He’s got more twang than Pearl did. It’s his best performance yet. Casey is even wiping away fake tears. Griffin thanks his family, who he loves unconditionally. On Stage Clue: “Texas” He says, “The lone star state played a very big role in making me a star.” Robin guesses Kyle Chandler. Ken guesses Josh Hartnett Casey guesses James Van Der Beek (DING DING DING. That’s who it is). James has been battling cancer this year. And his 90s movie Varsity Blues took place in Texas Ha Casey said “I’ve been watching it from home” as if the show is live.

Boogie Woogie

Clues: His mom had a great voice. His parents were both musicians. A few years ago his mother died. One thing he had to remember her was her recordings.

Performance: Something in the Water by Carrie Underwood – Boogie chooses one of Carrie’s more spiritual chart toppers. Boogie Woogie is the best singer of the three. He also has the most engaging stage presence. Robin mentions his dad, Alan Thicke, who died in 2016. On Stage Clue: “People say that I hit a real home run at the MLB” Robin guesses Ryan Tedder. Ken guesses Gavin DeGraw. Casey guesses Josh Groban.

Prediction: The interments are adamant that Boogie Woogie is singer Andy Grammer. His wiki says he busked in Santa Monica (a clue from week 1). Very obvious clues last week included The Mirror Ball and dancing shoes. Andy competed in Dancing with the Stars. Also he is known for his positivity. Peep his Insta, he’s always offering uplifting messages.

More clues: Andy released an album titled “Naive.” This week, the “Bones” clue that had Ken guessing Ryan Tedder actually refers to Andy, who co-wrote the song. Additionally, Boogie Woogie spoke of his mother passing. Here’s an article about Andy’s mother passing. He launched a campaign in 2013 for women’s equality in her honor.

One singer advances to the Lucky Six

The panel and audience have voted. The first singer to move on to the Lucky Six is Pearl. Griffin and Boogie Woogie will compete in the Battle Royale. The two sing “I Had Some Help” in their own styles. Griffin continues to twang away like a country singer. Then Boogie Woogie, a professional singer obviously, blows him off the stage. I can’t imagine him not advancing with Pearl.

Who will be unmasked?

The panel will choose who moves on. But not before Lucky Duck drops a clue. There is one singer from season 6 that all have a connection to. Katharine McPhee! Lucky Duck also mentions that he was on a historic show with Casey.

The winner of the Battle Royale is…Boogie Woogie. Of course, If not, we would have rioted! Griffin is eliminated. One last clue before final guesses: A football. “It’s been a big part of my career.” Robin: Kyle Chandler. Jenny: Chad Michael Murray Ken: Josh Hartnett Casey: James Van Der Beek.

The big reveal

And Griffin is James Van Der Beek. James has always loved to sing. He thought he would be on Broadway, but he ended up on TV. He describes Masked Singer as a great distraction from his cancer battle. Also, his kids wanted him to be on the show. Geez. As if his elimination wasn’t rigged. His entire family was backstage waiting to surprise him on stage.

The dancing shoes clue points to James’ turn on Dancing with the Stars. previously, Griffin talked about rocketing to overnight success like a teen Idol. James starred in the popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek. “Schools Out” was a clue. He talked about life being precious—his wife had a late-stage miscarriage a few years ago. Also, last week’s extra clue giver, McKenna Grace, appeared in 3 episodes of James’ TV series, CSI: Cyber.

Next week Group C–the five remaining celebrity contestants, take the stage.
