The Masked Singer Eliminated Kitty Aka AGT’s Jackie Evancho
The Masked Singer unmasked Kitty last night (May 6). Judges Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger all got it wrong. Because America’s Got Talent season 5 runner up Jackie Evancho was the singer under the mask. Nick Cannon, hosted AGT during Jackie’s run in 2010, and seemed very surprised to see a grown up Jackie under that Kitty head. He probably didn’t recognize Jackie’s pop voice. The singer performed opera songs and pop classical when she competed on the show at 10 years of age.

Jackie, who was “really sad” to take off the mask, joined The Masked Singer to show a different side of herself. “I have been stuck in the stereotype of a 10 year old girl,” she said, “and now I’m almost 20 and I’m glad that this experience has given me the chance to break out of that.”

The Masked Singer Helped Jackie Evancho Find Herself
On the post-show After the Mask, Jackie teared up, as she shared how the costume gave her permission to grow up. “I have been such a lost person for so long,” Jackie said, tearing up. “I never really had an opportunity really to figure out who I want to be in my life.” She continued, “It makes me tear up because I don’t think the masked singer crew and everyone involved knows how much it affected me.”
Fellow former child star, Donny Osmond and season one’s Peacock, gave her a pep talk, “When you hit it so big as a child performer, people have tendency to freeze you in that moment in time.” He said, “What you’ve done here on Fhe Masked Singer is educate people and wake them up and say ‘Jackie is not this 10 year old girl singing’…the world is your oyster right now.”
Jackie ended her segment with a performance Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors.”
