Finally, 1iota, the outfit that seats studio audiences for The Voice has listed ALL the coaches set for Season 14. We already knew that Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson were coaching the show in the spring 2018. But, who would be the fourth coach? Reportedly, it was Kelly who let the cat of the bag during an interview that Alicia Keys would be returning for a third go at the big red chair.
But where was the announcement? When there were rumors that ABC was in talks with Kelly to join the American Idol reboot as judge, NBC wasted NO time announcing that THEY had enlisted the American Idol OG to sit on the season 14 coaches panel. The early announcement had everything to do with NBC stealing ABC’s thunder, of course.
At the same time, the network also revealed ANOTHER American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson, would sit on the Season 13 panel. OUCH! Jennifer would appear on the The Voice fall 2017 cycle, followed by Kelly as coach in spring 2018 (coincidently…or not at the same time Idol made its big return on ABC).
The season 14 Blind Auditions are taping this week and Alicia’s photo is finally posted at the ticket site. So why not announce that Alicia Keys, coach and MANAGER of the season 12 winner Chris Blue, is coming back to the show? Is NBC waiting until after season 13 wraps up in December? It just goes to show how obedient mainstream entertainment media is, that outlets won’t post the news before the official announcement.
Kelly Clarkson Set as Key Advisor The Voice Season 13 Knockouts
In any case, if you live in the LA area, fans can join the waitlist for the Season 14 Blind Auditions scheduled for Thursday October 19 and Friday October 20 at this link. There are also tickets available for the Season 13 live shows, beginning on Monday November 20. There are only FOUR weeks of live shows this season. But that particular discussion is for another post.
And this morning, NBC made the official announcement. Here’s Kelly Clarkson making the big reveal on video (with a little “help” from Blake Shelton and Adam Levine)
