The Voice 19 kicked off the LIVE shows tonight (Nov 30) with the Top 17 Playoffs. Sixteen contestants were chosen by their coaches to advance to the lives. But ONE singer was added via the 4-way Knockout. A big development: Favorite to win, Ryan Gallagher from Team Kelly dropped out of the competition. No reason was given. His mother battled Covid-19, so maybe he tested positive? I would imagine ANY artist who tests positive at this point would have to immediately drop out.

So it was Taryn Pappas from Team Blake who took the prize. She joined her fellow 16 artists to compete for 9 spots in the semi-finals.
Here’s how Tuesday’s results will work: ONE artist will be chosen via viewer vote. Coaches will chose a second from their teams. That makes 8. Then, the next highest vote getters from each team will compete in an Instant Save performance. Fans will vote, and the winner will take the 9th spot.
REMINDER: It’s been confusing as heck, but blame the NFL who keeps rescheduling the Steelers/Ravens football game ORIGINALLY scheduled for Thanksgiving. Positive Covid-19 results cancelled the original, which was pushed to Sunday, and then to TUESDAY, which forced NBC to reschedule The Voice to Thursday. BUT THEN the NFL moved the game AGAIN to Wednesday afternoon, which won’t affect NBC’s primetime schedule at all. So, The Voice results episode is back on for Tuesday night (Dec 1) at 8 pm.. And, a The Voice Christmas special featuring the coaches, favorite alums and more will air in it’s original Thursday slot at 8 pm ET/PT.
The season is almost over, and it feels like it barely begun. That’s because it only started on October 19. It’s a shame the season couldn’t play out longer. This is a very talented group of contestants. My favorites are Payge Turner, Madeline Consoer, Taryn Pappa, Chloe Hogan, and Sid Kingsley. How about you?
