How Parijita Bastola and Kique made their mark on The Voice 2022
Parijita is the first Nepalese contestant to compete on The Voice. The 17 year old from Baltimore, Maryland impressed the coaches with her mature R&B style. After her rendition of “Jealous” by Labrinth earned her a 4 chair turn in her Blind Audition, she ultimately chose Team John Legend. The singer left the competition after competing in the semi-final Instant Save for a spot in the finale.
After securing a spot on Team Gwen Stefani in the Blind Auditions, 18 year old Kique from Miami Florida went on to impress the coaches and audiences alike with his creative arrangements and audacious performances. In particular, his unexpected performance of “Hey Ya” in the competitive 3-way Knockout propelled him to the Playoffs. The singer competed in the Top 13, but wound up in the bottom 4 where his version of “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey) won the Instant Save. He was eliminated the following week at Top 10. It didn’t help that he contracted Covid and needed to tape his performances in quarantine.
