The Voice season 21 Battle Rounds kick off on Monday October 11, and here is your first sneak peak. The trio, Girl Name Tom faces off against country singer Kinsey Rose for a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson.
The singers cover the iconic country rock tune “Seven Bridges Road” by The Eagles. The harmonies go on for days, and they are exquisite. “Gorgeous!” John Legend shouts at the end of the a’cappella intro.
Amid the sweet harmonies, Girl Named Tom lead singer and Kinsey show off their powerful pipes.
Kelly is clearly thrilled with the result. She is so happy, she’s screaming. Apparently, the artists arranged the harmonies on their own. Impressive.
“You four need to be singing together all the time,” says Blake Shelton. He observes that Kinsey has “so much character” in her voice, and compliments her “Hank Williams Sr. outfit.” Whatever that means! Kinsey takes it as a compliment.
Ariana Grande compliments the harmonies, and individual voices as well. “If I had to lean, I’d lean slightly in the direction of Girl Named Tom,” she admits.
“There’s going to be some stealing, I know this!” says John. Who will Kelly pick? And who will steal (OR SAVE) the loser? Tune in Monday night on NBC at 8 pm PT/ET to find out.
Each of the coaches has a celebrity advisor helping to prepare the duets. Country star Jason Aldean teamed up with Kelly Clarkson. Ariana Grande chose Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth. X Factor alum and former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello joined John Legend. And country singer Dierks Bentley aided Blake Shelton.
In a departure from previous seasons, each coach can steal an artist from another team, or a coach can SAVE their own team member. However, saved team members will not compute in a four-way competition for viewer votes in the Knockouts.
