The Voice 21 Knockouts conclude on Monday (Nov. 1) and here is a preview of the final face offs!
Samara Brown (sister of Season 3 standout Amanda Brown) is up against Shadale for a spot on Team John Legend. The winner of the round will move on to the Live Shows that begin Nov. 8. But don’t forget–Blake Shelton still has a steal!
Samara performs Tina Turner’s powerhouse classic “The Best,” while Shadale takes on Shontelle’s emotional “Impossible.”
Shadale’s performance moved Kelly Clarkson to the point that she wipes away tears. “It’s really hard to tap into your emotions and still be able to carry the song,” she says tearfully. “…at the very end you get very emotional. It was just such a perfect song choice. I obviously connected to your message.” Kelly calls Samara one of her favorite voices in the competition. But she missed that “hurt in that rasp that Tina is so known for.” She’d pick Shadale.
Blake calls “The Best” one of Tina Turner’s “happier songs.” And he liked the way Samara performed it. But Shadale went to doing great “into…exceptional.” He adds, “There is no denying that we all felt it.”
Ariana Grande considered Samara the “one that got away.” She appreciates that the singer showed the panel how she would perform at a show. “I’ll be there!” But Ariana thinks the performance left everyone choked up. “It was really beautiful and really moving.” She adds, “I am such a fan of both of you.”
John loved the “soul and the sexiness” that Samara put on the song. He felt that she nailed the high notes “%100 today.” However, John compares Shadale to watching the highly emotional Mary J. Blige in concert. “She feels her emotion in everything she does,” John says of Shadale compares to Mary J. “I think that’s what we felt today.” Believing that Shadale gave her best performance yet, John adds, “The thing that made it breakthrough was the emotion.”
