The Voice season 21 winners, the sibling trio Girl Named Tom, have a challenge for John Oliver!
During a recent episode on HBO’s Last Week Tonight, which highlighted Homeowners Associations, the host used The Voice to illustrate how for homeowners forced to follow strict and often ridiculous HOA guidelines, they lose no matter what they do.
“Sort of like going on The Voice,” Oliver quipped. “Sure, there are technically winners. but name a single one! This show has been on for a conservative 50 years, and not a single winner is a household name. Seriously, tell me the first and last name of just one winner. You can’t! No one can!”
“Not even Honky Tonk Frankenstein can do it”
Actually, I could list all 22 winners in order without looking. But I’m a weirdo!
He ended his The Voice diss with a swipe at long-time and now retiring coach Blake Shelton: “Not even Honky Tonk Frankenstein can do it.” Man!

As a challenge, the Team Kelly Clarkson trio posted a “reaction video” on social media. The singers look confused at first, and then indignant as Oliver jokes about the winners being nobodies. sister Bekah Liechty fake cries while brother Caleb Leichty laughs out loud.
After the clip, third member Joshua Leichty warns, “we’ll be keeping this receipt John. This is not going to age well for you, I hate to say it.” Bekah adds sarcastically, “Wait…John who?” Caleb offers, Maybe you’re right, people can’t name a single winner from The Voice. But we’re a trio,”
John, You’re invited!
“In fact, we’re coming to New York,” says Bekah. “I Googled you. It turns out you live in New York. And John, this could be you at a GIrl Named Tom show,” she says holding up a phone with a photo of one lonely looking person sitting in an auditorium. A caption reads, “You’re invited.”
The video caption reads: “Dear John… consider this an invitation to be a GNT stan. It’s easy – you don’t even have to remember a name.” They invite their fans to tag the show and “teach John our name!!”
The clip ends with the singers in front of an enthusiastic audience. “Who are we?” shouts Bekah. The crowd shouts back, “Girl Named Tom!” with a caption reading “They know our name.” They tag the show. And who knows, maybe the show will respond!
Watch the full segment below. Currently, Girl Named Tom are on tour. They don’t have a date scheduled in New York City. But on April 15 they performed on Long Island in Huntington New York and are set to play Albany on Thursday (April 20).
