The Voice 23 Playoffs Preview: Sister Act Sorelle sing an Etta James classic
The Voice 23 Playoffs begin on Monday (May 1) with Team Blake Shelton and Team Chance the Rapper performing for a spot in the semi-finals. Check out a preview of Chance’s team members, the sibling trio Sorelle, performing a cover of Etta James “Something’s Got a Hold on Me.”
After the high energy performance, Blake declares, “I mean…c’mon. This is cheating! It’s too perfect,” He loved each of their individual moments. Niall Horan adds, “The energy off you guys is insane.” He wonders what music they grew up listening to. The sisters agree that it’s “a lot of stuff!”

Kelly Clarkson astutely compares the trio to 40s girl groups like the Andrew Sisters. And as it turns out the group studied that era of music to help them work out their harmonies. Niall compliments the “hell of an arrangement.”
“I’m so proud any time you get on stage”
“What you’re doing is so fresh, unlike anyone else,” says Kelly. “I think that makes you stand out.” The coaches agree that Chance should advance them into the semi-finals.
“I’m so proud anytime you get on stage,” says Chance. “It just blows everybody away. And you guys have just been so receptive to all the notes. Y’all killed it.”
Sorelle’s rendition of Etta’s classic is less blues and more glitz. It’s the kind of act I’d expect to see in a Las Vegas club.
Obviously, the Playoffs won’t be live or include America’s vote. Over the course of two weeks, the teams will perform. At the end of the episode, the coaches will choose two acts from their five member teams to move on to the semi-finals. Finally, the show will go live on May 15. Next Monday (May 8) Team Kelly and Team Niall are up. Ultimately, a Top 8 will move on to the semi-finals.
The Voice season 23 Playoffs kick off on NBC Monday May 1 at 8 pm ET/PT.
