The Voice 24 and 25: Will the Playoffs be Taped Again? See the Schedule (Updated)

The Voice Season 24 and 25 Playoffs will be taped

NBC is gearing up for both Season 24 and Season 25 of The Voice. Taking a peek at the taping schedules for both seasons, ~~it appears that the Season 24 Playoffs will air LIVE while the Season 25 Playoffs will air TAPED episodes!~~

UPDATE: Shortly after we posted this piece, 1iota.com added Playoff dates for season 24. BOTH season 24 and season 25 will be taped through the playoffs.

By October the network will have finished filming both the Fall 2023 cycle (Season 24) and Spring 2024 cycle (Season 25) of The Voice. All that will remain for each season will be to broadcast the live shows! It’s an unusual situation. Usually the Fall cycle films in the summer and fall, while the following Winter cycle shoots in the fall and early in the new year.

Who knows why the Spring cycle is shooting so early. Perhaps the superstars sitting in the Big Red Chairs have busy schedules, and NBC needed to make accommodations. For season 24, veterans John Legend, Gwen Stefani, sophomore coach Niall Horan and newbie Reba McEntire will serve as coaches. Season 25 will feature the first DOUBLE CHAIR featuring the country duo Dan + Shay, in addition to returning coaches Chance the Rapper, John Legend and Reba McEntire coming back for her second cycle.

Season 24 and 25 Playoffs will definitely be filmed

In any case, fans may be wondering how seasons 24 and 25 will compare to seasons 22 and 23. Season 22 in the fall of 2022 boasted a 56 member cast of artists. That totaled 14 members for each team. The following cycle, season 23, in the spring, only had 40 singers at the end of Blind Auditions. NBC taped the season 23 Playoffs, the following Live shows only lasted two weeks, the Semi-final featuring instant voting and no results episode.

Notably, season 24 will film the Knockouts round on September 8 and September 10. ~~And so far there’s nothing else scheduled to film on the Season 24 calendar.~~ Again, shortly after we uploaded this post, 1Iota.com added Playoffs filming dates for Season 24.

Season 25 has scheduled dates for The Knockouts on September 12 only. But then the network will tape the PLAYOFFS on October 3 and October 4! So, just like Season 23 in the spring, the Season 25 Playoffs will NOT be live. Also, interestingly, the Knockouts are scheduled for only two tapings, while season 24 has scheduled four. Like season 23, the network has scheduled four tapings for the Playoffs, presumably one taping per team.

Season 24 is supersized due to the strikes

Could Season 24 schedule an additional round of filming in order to tape the Playoffs? ~~Possibly? But probably not.~~ NBC has supersized their Fall 2023 schedule, adding The Voice recap shows on Tuesdays to accommodate schedule holes resulting from the combo writers/actors strikes. Nevertheless, NBC recently added additional taping dates on September 27 and 28 to accommodate filming the Playoffs. Season 24 could still have a larger cast of artists than Season 25, but NBC will film the Playoffs for both seasons.

Remember that before season 23, the Playoffs typically aired live, followed by a Tuesday live results show. Will NBC ever go back to live Playoffs? That remains to be seen.
