The Voice 24: Huntley and Brailey Lenderman sing “Hold My Hand” for a spot on Team Niall Horan
The Voice 24 Battles come to an end on Monday (Nov 6) before the 2nd hour of the episode kicks off the Knockouts. Ahead of the show, NBC previews a Team Niall Horan battle between Brailey Lenderman and Huntley performing the 90s classic, “Hold My Hand” by Hootie & the Blowfish.
Niall and Gwen Stefani turned their chairs for songwriter Brailey Lenderman when she performed Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy” in her Blind Audition. Despite her mother advocating for Gwen, Brailey chose Niall as her coach.
Huntley wowed the coaches with his bluesy hard rock version of Black Crowe’s “She Talks to Angels” which got all four chairs to turn. After the performance, the singer’s daughter joined him on stage and “picked” Niall to be his coach.
Niall declares the song the best Brailey and Huntley ever performed it
After the performance, Niall declares that it’s the best they performed it. Gwen states that she didn’t feel Brailey’s tone and power until about half way through the song. On the other hand, Gwen is worried that Huntley will win The Voice. “Huntley won that one,” she says.
John Legend calls Brailey “powerful” and felt she made musical choices “appropriate to the song” while still making it “fresh.” However, no matter how good Bailey was, she was up against Huntley’s “magnetism” and energy. “There’s just something special about that crackle in your voice,” John says about Huntley’s vocal style.
Being a solo artist, Reba McEntire misses singing duets and wishes she could have been singing with the duo. Huntley invites her to join them on stage! Reba compliments Brailey’s tone, but she did hear a few “pitchy things” here and there, but she likes her stage presence and look.
Niall calls Huntley’s stage presence “insane.” He reveals that Brailey gets nervous for most stage performances but that it “didn’t look like it today,” adding “You were absolutely on fire up there.”
Who will be the winner of the Battle and move on to the Knockouts? Will John, who has the one remaining steal, nab the loser? Tune in on NBC Monday November 6 at 8 pm ET/PT to find out.
