The Voice 24 Playoffs: Songstress Lila Forde brings 70’s vibes to Team John Legend
The Voice 24 Playoffs conclude on Tuesday (Nov. 28) with Team John Legend. By the end of the episode the Top 12 artists going into the Live shows will be revealed.
One of Team Legend’s talented artists is Lila Forde, who takes the Playoffs stage to sing “Angel From Montgomery” by John Prine. Bonnie Raitt, notably, recorded a beautiful cover of the song, which has, over the years, become a singing show standard.
A 4-chair turn, Lila has been a member of Team Legend from the beginning. Fresh off of covering James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” in the Knockouts, Lila once again covers an iconic folk song from the 70s.

“Hello producers! Could I have another steal please!” Niall Horan jokes after her performance, adding “You’re incredible. Your runs were so flavorful. Your lower register is really nice. When you get up there it’s really pretty. You’re one of my favorite acts I’ve seen on The Voice.”
Gwen Stefani compares Lila’s style to a 70s vibe. “But it doesn’t feel like you’re copying it,” Gwen says. “It flows through you so naturally and authentically that it’s exciting for somebody like me to see a young girl that feels so authentic and pure,” she finishes, “I’m a big fan!”
“You’ve got a little category over here by yourself,” notes Reba McEntire. I just love the little inflections in your voice. It’s the complete package.” She turns to John to say, “You gotta pick her!”
John compliments his team member, “You have a certain light about you that makes you very individual with a real sense of identity.” He adds, “The runs you do make these classic songs sound more modern. But they don’t take you out of the spirit of the song. It’s really fresh, but it’s classic at the same time.”
