This semi-final week, Team Niall Horan, consisting of Huntley, Mara Justine and Nini Iris came through with strong performances. Team Reba McEntire’s Jordan Rainer rallied after last week’s near elimination with a fierce performance of Blake Shelton’s “Ol Red.” Jacquie Roar also had a strong night delivering the “Chris Daughtry version” of Sia’s “Alive.” But she performed in the death spot. In fact, aside from the trio performances, all of Reba’s singers performed in the front half of the show. Could all three of Niall’s team members make the finale? It could happen!
Reba’s teen country singer, Ruby Leigh didn’t deliver her best performance this week. But if her fan base is strong, it may not matter. Ditto Team Gwen Stefani’s BIAS who didn’t seem to connect to the song his fans chose for him. Gwen could possibly enter the finale without any competing team members. Team John Legend’s Lila Forde ended the night with a stylish Joni Mitchell fan favorite and could be a dark horse right now.
As they usually are, the group numbers were uneven efforts, but offered entertaining interludes in between the solo performances.
