The Voice 24 Top 9 Ranked Power List – How would YOU rank the artists?
It’s the second week of The Voice season 24 LIVE shows and it’s already the semi-finals! The round will determine which FIVE artists move on to next week’s finale.
Last week, Jordan Rainer won the Instant Save, despite Kara Tenae’s strong pimp spot performance of “Love Takes Time.” Is Jordan more popular than she seems, or is country music as popular as ever on The Voice, despite the absence of Blake Shelton on the panel?
Regardless, having to sing for her life puts Jordan at No. 9 on this week’s Power List! I feel fairly confident that the Top 4 singers will move on to the finals. But That fifth spot is up for grabs. Or maybe I’m totally wrong. Does anybody have theories about how only allowing fans to vote ONCE for a favorite contestant affects the vote results? (Versus having the ability to vote once for as many contestants as a fan likes) .
Monday’s show will also feature TRIO performances of….sigh…Taylor Swift songs. I mean, good for The Voice giving this poor girl a platform! /sarcasm.
9. Jordan Rainer – Team Reba
Jordan is an entertaining performer, and when she’s speaking in front of the mic, she’s hilarious. But she needs to take off the dang hat and dark sunglasses and GET VULNERABLE. Humor can only take a person so far. I get the feeling there is a well of hurt she has NOT tapped into yet. But when she does…watch out.
8. Lila Forde – Team Legend
I may be misjudging Lila’s position here, because as the panel has noted, she’s got the folk/rock lane all to herself. If she sticks to the 70’s stuff this week, she could slip into the Top 5. But she’s up against some very talented and charismatic artists.
7. BIAS – Team Gwen
Team Gwen has been a fail this season. Since her vote isn’t split, maybe her fans will go crazy voting for BIAS, her only remaining artist. I find myself rooting for him. Gwen appreciates his weirdness, and so do I. He’s obviously a Christian singer, but he adds a dark twist, as if the devil is always looking over his shoulder. Intriguing.
6. Nini Iris – Team Niall
Nini and Mara Justine are travelling on the same road. Both are big voiced pop singers. But Nini tends toward dark alternative rock numbers, while Mara is more conventional, which could bring the latter singer wider appeal. Still, Nini has a good chance to slip into the Top 5 if she lends her huge voice to another alternative rock song. Her taste in music sets her apart from everyone else. Don’t chicken out and cover Mariah or Celine, Nini!
5. Jacquie Roar – Team Reba
Jacquie also has a shot at the Top 5. She’s adept at both straight up country and country rock. She advanced to the Top 9 with a cover of the Lainey Wilson hit, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” to which she lent a decidedly gravely rock flavor. She’s like a cross between Lainey and Stevie Nicks. Her confident stage performances have taken her a long way, and could take her further.
4. Mac Royals – Team Legend
Mac is the ONLY R&B singer left in the competition and at this point, also has a lane to himself. His effortless adlibs and runs as he makes every cover his own, have continued to impress the coaches. His Top 12 performance of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” showed a different side of the singer, and did not disappoint. I can’t see Mac NOT making the final.
3. Mara Justine – Team Niall
Only in her early 20s, Mara takes the stage like a seasoned pro. Her song choices have been mostly varied and interesting and have served her well. This is her third go at a singing show (AGT and American Idol previously) and she knows what works and has turned into a supremely confident performer. She can also SANG. She could win it all.
2. Ruby Leigh – Team Reba
She’s only 16 years old, yet Ruby represents old school country as if she’s from another era. Her big voice, and well placed yodel has propelled her through every round. She’s only going to get better and better. Even if she’s not at her peak, the country loving The Voice fans LOVE this gal. She could also win it all.
1. Huntley – Team Niall
Huntley is your classic throwback white guy who often wins these types of shows. He’s got a classic sound with the ability to hit pleasing raspy high notes. He also knows how to work the stage and play to an audience. And he’s a family man with a cute daughter! He performed a Joe Cocker inspired cover of “A Little Help From My Friends” last week and the crowd loved it. Huntley is going to make the finale. A cake walk. He could also win it all.
The Voice airs on NBC Mondays (8 pm ET/PT) and Tuesdays (9 pm). On Tuesdays, NBC airs a recap of Monday’s performance episode at 8 pm ET/PT.
