The Voice 25: Madison Cubelo and Kyle Schuesler impress with English/Spanish version of “Lucky”
The Battles continue on The Voice 25 on Monday (March 25) as Madison Cubelo and Kyle Schuesler perform Jason Mraz’ “Lucky” in both English and Spanish in a new preview from NBC.
Madison previously impressed the coaches with a Spanish language song for her Blind Audition, while Kyle confessed that he has never performed in Spanish before. She has the slight edge here. But Kyle holds his own so well, that the coaches hint at maybe stealing the loser of the Battle from coaches Dan + Shay!
“How beautiful was that?” said John Legend. He reminded the singers that he turned for both of them. “You rejected me. It’s OK” He added, “You two gave a beautiful, beautiful performance. I just was truly enjoying myself the entire time.” He called Madison “brilliant” and declared that he “believed” non-Spanish speaking Kyle’s performance. “When I’m able to enjoy and not overthink it. When it’s in my heart and not my head, that’s when I know it’s great.” He would slightly lean towards Madison.
Chance the Rapper warns Dan + Shay that John Legend will try and steal the loser
“Y’all are simply show-offs,” said Reba McEntire. “I absolutely loved it.” She told Madison, “Your voice is incredible. I didn’t know what you were singing. But it touched my heart.” However, she loved Kyles tone and would go with him.
Chance the Rapper warned Dan + Shay that both singers could win the entire competition, and therefore, the duo should use their Playoff Pass “right now.” Chance believed that John would use his steal on Kyle. “Stay out of this!” John demanded.
Dan Smyers of Dan + Shay felt their performance was the most cohesive so far. “I feel that your individual performances were incredible, but together, it was just so locked in.” Dan believes they both deserve to win the show. Shay Mooney joked. I love to…feel the fear from John next to me.” John, of course, insisted that he’s NOT scared.
Kyle came out of his shell, Shay said, and he called Madison an “absolute ray of sunshine.” Reading between the lines, it appears that Dan + Shay will pick Madison, John will try to steal Kyle, followed by Dan + Shay using their Playoff Pass on Kyle. That would send him straight to the Playoff round.
However, fans will have to wait until Monday’s show to find out what goes down! The Voice airs on NBC Mondays at 8 PM ET/PT and Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/PT. It streams next day on Peacock.
