The Voice 26 Blind Audition: Cameron Wright’s soulful cover of Barbra Streisand’s “The Way We Were” gets a 4-chair turn

The Voice 26 Blind Auditions 5th edition will feature Cameron Wright singing the classic Barbra Streisand song, “The Way We Were” which prompted all four coaches to turn their chairs.

As soon as their soulful tenor delivered the first line, Gwen Stefani and Michael Buble hit their buttons. On the second line of the first verse, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg followed. From there, the dramatic vocalist’s only job was to entertain the coaches. Cameron, whose pronouns are they/them, comes from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“That was spectacular!” said Reba. “One of my favorite songs, and boy you sang the heck out of it.” She observed that it wasn’t Cameron’s first rodeo, to which they replied, “No it’s not!” Cameron shared that they have been singing professionally since the age of 5. Their mother, a professional gospel singer, introduced them to music.

“You just came in and sliced the air out of the room,” Gwen gushed over Cameron’s performance. “Not one moment wasn’t perfect the way you sang that. It was insane.” She added, “It was so inspiring to be around people like you who are just so gifted. I would love to have you on Team Gwen.”

Michael Buble predicts Cameron will compete in the final

“I love this show!” Michael declared. “Cameron I love your voice. We all know you have a beautiful voice. But my favorite part about you is that God gave you a light that pours out of you.” He added, “You can’t buy it, you can’t bottle it. I would love to be your coach.” He’s sure Cameron will make it to the finals.

Snoop shared that he’s not looking for someone who already has it all. But, he said, “I think there’s a few things in my toolbox that I can give you to get you all the way over the hump. I would love to have you on Team Snoop.”

Michael hoped that Cameron “does some incredible Gospel number that lifts this whole place up.” Snoop added that when it comes to Gospel music, he’s the guy. “Praise God!” Snoop said. Cameron pointed and agreed.

Who will Cameron choose as their coach? Tune into The Voice on Monday October 14 at 8 pm on NBC to find out! The episode will stream on Peacock starting the next day.
