The Voice 26: Soulful Sofronio Vasquez Gets a FAST Four Chair Turn (Video)

Sofronio Vasquez - The Voice 26

The Voice 26 Preview: Watch the coaches battle for 4-chair turn Sofronio Vasquez

Tonight (Monday, Sept. 23) The Voice season 26 premieres on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT. And here is your first taste of a 4-chair turn. Sofronio Vasquez got all the coaches–Michael Buble, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg–to hit their buttons.

Within the first few moments of the singer’s cover of Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Going Down,” new coach Snoop hit his button. Fellow new coach Michael and returnee Reba turned their chairs soon after. Not wanting to be left out, veteran Gwen completed the FOUR CHAIR TURN. It took about 20 seconds for all coaches to end the performance facing the singer.

Enjoying the riff-filled performance was the only thing left. Afterward, Sofronio explained that he was from the Philippines.

“I could not hit my button fast enough,” Reba exclaimed. “Your voice is like butter. It is so easy on the ears. But your soulfulness touched my heart. You’ve got the whole package.” The country singer reminded Sofronio that she won The Voice last year.

“That was a Grammy performance,” said Gwen. “It felt like somebody that knows that God gave him the gift and just trying to get on this stage to show everybody.” The singer believes she can help him find the music that is his “identity.” Gwen added, “I want a piece of you, I want to be inspired by you.”

“I think you are going to help me win this competition”

Michael noted his special relationship with the people of the Philippines. “Your people are such a beautiful people. I can’t even imagine how proud you’re going to make them.” He added, “There’s something so inherently beautiful about music for you.” Michael got choked up, “I’m trying to swallow because I’m emotional! I want this relationship. It’s going to get past whatever happens in this competition.” And then Michael declared, “I think you are going to help me win this competition.”

While Michael offered a tempting pitch, Snoop wasn’t going to hand it to him. “Let’s get back to business!” he said. While pointing out the genres of his fellow coaches, Snoop insisted, “This here is soul!” He added, “Your soul. Your spirit. Your coach.” Snoop promised to be the singer’s mentor and help him every step of the way. “Team Snoop! Quit playing man!” He went on to brag that he owns the record label that signed him and spends his time scouting for new talent.

But Michael wasn’t done. He got the crowd chanting his name. Will it work? Or will Sofronio go with Snoop? Find out when The Voice premieres on Monday, September 23 at 8 pm ET/PT.
