The Voice Season 26: Jeremy Beloate hopes to find The “light at the end of the tunnel” with his audition

The Voice season 26 episode 3 auditions kicked off a two night a week schedule. Monday night served America some interesting artists who also came with some tragic and sad back stories. One of those singers was Jeremy Beloate who closed the first hour. (Read our Recap)

We meet Jeremy, a 25-year-old, originally from Memphis, Tennessee who moved to New York City after college. His mom, who joined him at his audition along with his sister, recalled seeing ads for The Voice Season 1 when Jeremy was 12. She knew he would love the show, and the family watched it together.

Jeremy has been singing since he was a child. When he told his mom at the age of 4 that he wanted to sing, he joined a kids group where he was the only boy. Sadly, tragedy struck the family. A brother Joel passed due to addiction when Jeremy was 16, then his dad passed away when he was a junior in college, also due to addiction. And now, this past fall, his brother Adam passed away due to a relapse after 9 years of sobriety. After so much heartbreak, Jeremy wants to “bring good news” to his mom who has had a difficult year.

“You could help me just as much as I could even help you”

Jeremy sang “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon. His tone has a theatrical yet soulful quality to it with a unique vibrato. His sound is interesting and similar to Broadway star Ben Platt. Michael Buble turned after a few lines. Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg turned as the singer displayed some impressive range and runs. His vocal skill truly comes forth towards the end as he hits some clear as a bell falsetto notes which enticed Reba McEntire to turn. It was a bit over the top, but sounded tasteful enough given that the performance was designed to impress the coaches. Intrigue is the one word that comes to mind when I heard Jeremy’s audition as it wasn’t the cleanest vocal. But it was anything but basic.

Reba admitted Jeremy isn’t her wheelhouse, but told him, “Your range is just incredible with great feeling and emotion.” Jeremy shared his story with the coaches and calls the audition his “light at the end of the tunnel.” Michael believes Jeremy could do any genre, saying “you could help me just as much as I could even help you.” Gwen told Jeremy, “you have this deep hurt inside you that you could use in your music.” She wants to help him define his lane. Snoop added, “I have written some of my best records in pain, and that is the best time to be expressing.”

Jeremy picked Team Buble

Jeremy’s mom and sister joined him on stage for the decision. Michael joked he wants to lip sync to Jeremy’s voice in his car. Snoop wanted to give his mom and sister a hug. Ultimately, Michael’s passionate pitch wins out as the singer picked Team Buble. It should be a good fit.

Jeremy wasn’t the only one to intrigue on Monday night. MisterMoon, a folk pop duo brought cool folksy harmonies to a newer Kacey Musgraves track, “Deeper Well.” And Frankie Torres classic sound and big voice erupted on the latter half of her audition of “Magic Man” by Heart which got all 4 coaches to turn.
