The Voice 27 Blind Audition: Britton Moore is the perfect fit for Team Adam Levine with his 4-chair rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow”
The Voice Season 27 returned for night two of the Blind Auditions on Monday night (Feb 10). The episode continued to heavily feature new coach, Kelsea Ballerini, but also saw the return of Michael Bublé’s cheesy and sometimes crazy pitches. Veteran coaches, John Legend and Adam Levine, still proved to be the four-chair kings as each gained one. (Read our Recap)
One of those four chair turns was episode closer, Britton Moore is a 21-year-old from San Antonio, Texas who has always dreamt of being on The Voice. His senior year, he had signed up and was ready to be on the show, but his baseball team went to the state championship, so he decided to decline the offer. But now, the singer has decided to make music his main focus. Britton chose “Yellow” as his audition song, which he likened the lyrics to “the blessings we have been given.” He has mainly done music on social music, so he hoped a chair turn would validate his decision to give up sports.
As soon as Britton began singing, his voice seemed recognizable as his own. His indie pop voice is unique, but not super powerful. Yet, the way he crafted his runs and put an artistic spin on the song made him stand out. Adam turned very quickly which made a ton of sense, as both genre-wise and tone-wise, Britton as an artist is in the same realm as the coach. After hitting the parts of the song that made him push his range, he got John and Kelsea to turn. Michael hit his button as the song wrapped up.
“There was definitely something in your voice that reminded me a little bit about how I do it”
Adam joked about turning around way before the other coaches. His falsetto got him to turn. He said, “There was definitely something in your voice that reminded me a little bit about how I do it.” John said his falsetto did not “betray him” like it does most singers, and added, “nobody sounds like you on the show.” Michael joked about turning last saying, “I love character voices. Not everybody has to sound like a Celine Dion or Whitney Houston, doing runs and all that stuff.”
Kelsea delivered a strong pitch saying, “You can kind of tap into whatever genre you feel like.” She also tried to appeal to his youth mentioning that she is on Tik Tok, which gets some funny banter out of the other judges. Adam attempted to pitch some more before Kelsea hit her button which triggered a soundbite of her song “Dibs.” The two of them go hard after Britton, but ultimately the singer chose to be on Team Adam.

Adam’s team after the first two episodes is strong, winning over some of the best talent of both nights. Team Legend is the other team that won big on night two of auditions, nabbing Ari Camille. Her soulful take on Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down” boasted one of the best tones of the season so far. 4-chair singer Bryson Battle put too many runs and not enough feeling into his song. But either way I admired his technical ability, realizing he will likely be one of the stronger vocalists of the season. I found the night fell a little flat compared to the premiere, so hopefully next week we will bounce back and all the auditions will be on par with Britton’s rock solid effort.
