The Voice 27 Knockouts: Kelsea Ballerini brings back Hailey Wright vs Jaelen Johnston from Battles. One will DEFINTELY go home

The Voice 27 Knockouts end on Monday (April 14) with six more matchups between Team Members, including Hailey Wright and Jaelen Johnston from Team Kelsea Ballerini.

Hailey performs Patsy Montana’s “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart” while Jaelen sings Noah Kahan’s “Drunk Dial” for a chance to advance to The Playoffs.

Hailey hits the stage first with a yodel fueled, upbeat rendition of the classic country song. Michael Bublé can’t get enough of her during the performance. “I just love her!” he gushes. The singer works the stage and crowd with confidence and even dances around a bit.

Next, Jaelen changes the mood with a heartfelt performance that expresses vulnerability and skilled storytelling abilities. His appealing raspy voice keeps the room’s attention.

“I love that old school thing,” Michael says about Hailey’s “stylized” vocals. “I miss Reba!” He adds (Reba coached on seasons 25 & 26), “When someone like you walks up on stage and it’s real, I just love it.” And to Jaelen, he remarks, “Jaelen, everytime I talk to you I try to do my deepest voice! You look the loosest that I’ve seen you. You have such a distinct voice.” However, Michael feels that Hailey won the Knockout.

John Legend finds it “interesting” that Kelsea Ballerini is “forcing” herself to choose between two talented singers AGAIN

John Legend mentions that the Knockout is a rematch from the Battles.” He finds it interesting that Kelsea is “forcing” a difficult decision upon herself again. John observes that “Yodeling is not easy.” and that singers have to hit intervals without “jumping all over the pitch.” He feels that Jaelen came out on stage with “a lot of charisma.” The coach does not pick a winner.

Adam Levine calls Jaelen, “always on a base level of good” and that he would have chosen the singer in the Battles. He notes that Kelsea saved Hailey and that her Knockout performance should be rated on a “best of seven” like baseball or basketball. Now, he wants to see more of Hailey. “In a way, this is our first real shot of her best,” he observes. This time, Adam would pick Hailey.

Kelsea reveals to the studio audience that the jump from rehearsal to stage was big. She loves Jaelen’s song choice, because she wanted to see something “a little more upbeat.” She’s proud that he moved around on stage this time. During rehearsal, Kelsea suggested Hailey become a character on stage to help combat her nerves. “I feel like you did that,” Kelsea says.

Unfortunately only Kelsea has a steal in this last episode. An artist from this matchup is DEFINITELY leaving the competition. Who will Kelsea choose? Tune into The Voice on NBC Monday April 14 at 8 pm ET/PT, streaming on Peacock the next day.
