The Voice 27 Knockouts: Divighn and Kaiya Hamilton sing for a spot on Michael Bublé’s Playoffs Team

The Voice 27 Knockouts continue on Monday (April 7) with more team matchups. In a new preview from NBC, Divighn performs “Harder to Breathe” by Maroon 5, while Kaiya Hamilton tackls “Here” by Alessia Cara. After the two performed, coach Michael Bublé chose the winner moving on to the Playoffs. The loser can move on if another coach steals them. Otherwise, they head home.

Divighn was up first. Adam Levine immediately recognized his own song and is NOT mad about it! The singer was sexy in a sparkly shirt and tight pants. He pulled out all the dance moves as he worked the stage like a pro. John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini groove in their seats, thoroughly enjoying the show.

Next, Kaiya took the stage, bringing the tempo down considerably. Technically, she was phenomenal as she hit a soulful groove exhibiting expert phrasing and a confident swagger. She tackled a difficult song choice perfectly. Where was she breathing exactly? Amazing. John was UP ON HIS FEAT by the end of her performance.

I would choose Kaiya to win the Knockout, no matter who Michael chose, the loser had a good chance to be stolen.

“You just sang and sang and sang your butt off”

John reminded Divighn that The Voice is a vocal competition. Nevertheless, he believes it’s “special” when a talented performer can bring their dance moves to the stage. “I thought it was really compelling,” he said. And to Kaiya John gushed, “You just sang and sang and sang your butt off.” He added that the song “was not easy to sing.” He won’t choose a winner.

“You’ve got great taste in music,” Adam teased Divighn. Adam admitted that he always dreads when artists cover his songs, because he’s too close to them. However, the coach loved what Devighn did with the song, acknowledging that the singer’s rendition was very different from his own. Adam felt that Kaiya gave an “opposite” clinic. While movement was a key piece of Divighn’s performance, Adam noted that Kaiya didn’t worry about anything except singing her “butt off.” He would go with Divighn, however. “He had all these other things going on that were impressive.”

“You are so fun to watch”

“You ebbed and flowed with it so much,” said Kelsea to Kaiya, “That I listened to the lyrics differently than I did the original.” Kelsea added, “That was your artistry leaking through that. I feel that anyone who has ever told you no, you said, ‘yeah, this is for you!'” Next, she joked that she “never heard” Divighn’s song choice before. Kelsea is a big fan of Maroon 5’s album Songs About Jane and “Harder to Breathe” is one of her favorite songs of all time.

Michael loved the choreography Divighn created for the performance. “You are so fun to watch,” he said. “Your voice is undeniable,” Michael said about Kaiya. “You sang the heck out of this. I felt like you know who you are as an artist.

Who will Michael choose and will the loser be stolen? Tune in to a special ONE HOUR episode of The Voice airing Monday night at 9 pm ET/PT. A recap of last week’s show will air at 8 pm ET/PT. The Voice also streams on Peacock.
