It was a rainy afternoon at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday (5/5) for the 2017 Kentucky Oaks. However, the precipitation didn’t stop Billy Gilman from delivering a full throated rendition of the National Anthem before the horses took off.
Check out The Voice season 11 runner-up singing the national anthem below. The singer delivers a straightforward version of the song, but can’t resist showing off his incredible range toward the end of his version. The race, featuring 3 year old fillies, is part of a weekend full of events centered around the Kentucky Derby, which takes place on Saturday.
Fun Fact: The Voice 9 winner, Jordan Smith performed the anthem before the Oaks in 2016. The more you know!
