Sixteen year old Brayden Lape is wasting no time getting his music career off the ground. After finishing 5th in The Voice 2022 finale earlier this month, the country heartthrob was in the studio this week recording new music. Additionally, the Team Blake Shelton member also filmed a music video.
Experienced vet Morgan Myles mentors Brayden Lape as he records his first record
But the inexperienced singer is NOT out there on his own. A fellow The Voice contestant, seasoned vet Morgan Myles, from Team Camila Cabello, who finished in 3rd place behind bodie and winner Bryce Leatherwood, is mentoring the Michigan native. In the last couple of days, the two joined forces to record a new song. The pair are also co-writing. Additionally, in her stories, Morgan is wearing headphones, seated in front of a mic, and appears to be tracking vocals.
“Recording some final vocals with Mr. Brayden,” says Morgan in the clip, as a producer pieces together his vocals, from the “millions” of times (Brayden’s description!) he sat at the mic. Afterward the crew treated themselves to a yummy dinner.
On Instagram stories, Brayden and Morgan document more: “Day 2 of writing with Morgan Myles of The Voice!” Brayden says as Morgan drives the car. Cut to a room where Brayden, Morgan and another musician are working. Brayden explains, “We are writing a few songs!” after turning his camera toward Morgan, she says “Yes we are!”

Brayden and Morgan head to a highschool to film the teen’s first music video
After the recording and writing sessions, Morgan and Brayden were off to shoot a music video in a high school gymnasium. “Well that’s a WRAP on Bray Bray’s first music video,” Morgan writes in the caption. “Sad seeing Kare Bear and my lil brother leave just now… til next time guys!!!” In stories, Brayden shows off another location–a high school football field. Too bad it’s raining!
Brayden advanced to the finale ahead of better singers like Kim Cruse and Parijita Bastola. However, his winning smile and likable demeanor grew his fan base week by week. His vocals are still raw, but with the help of more experienced singers like Morgan, for instance, he could develop into a solid singer.
Morgan is the perfect mentor and teacher for Brayden. Not only is she a first class vocalist, but she’s been a touring musician for at least a decade and knows the ins and outs of the Nashville music scene. It’s very cool that she’s helping Brayden out.
