Tonight on NBC, The Voice season 13 the Battle Rounds continue. The coaches pit team members against each other in epic duets. One singer survives, the other goes home. That is, unless a fellow coach steals the losing contestant. Each coach gets TWO steals.
Also, each coach has invited another superstar to help get their teams ready for battle. Adam Levine has brought on the newly engaged Joe Jonas to help out. Blake Shelton enlisted his buddies, the country group, Rascal Flatts. Jennifer Hudson asked Kelly Rowland to assist efforts to get her team in shape and Miley Cyrus turned to her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus to lend a hand.
The Voice Season 13 Song Spoilers: Battle Rounds 2 – What Will the Contestants Sing?
As always, host Carson Daly will “referee” it all. Yep. We still got the corny boxing ring setup! Join us here as we LIVE BLOG every performance.
Davon Fleming vs Maharasyi – Team Jennifer Hudson – I’m Your Baby Tonight by Whitney Houston – Davon grew up in a rough part of Baltimore and makes a living as a worship leader. Maharasyi was born in LA but moved to Indonesia for a record deal. She returned, and now she’s a wedding singer. Kelly says she auditioned for Destiny’s Child with this song. JHud calls Davon a beast. He’s also a stage hog. He’s leaving no room for his partner, JHud notes. Maharasyi says she’s learning so much about singing as Jennifer demonstrates a vocal. She’s literally crying, she’s so grateful. At final rehearsal, the singers are having trouble performing on the same page. Learn to blend, says Kelly.
They’re both good. But I suspect Davon will win the battle. He’s got a natural ease and charisma. Such a great tone! Maharasyi doesn’t hold my attention in the same way. Miley thinks they both deserve to advance, it just depends on what Jennifer needs. Adam compliments Maharishi’s dress. It is eye catching. Davon was a four chair turn, nevertheless, says Blake, the two singers are equal. Jennifer is extremely proud of Maharasyi, which is basically to say…nice knowing you. Jennifer picks Davon Fleming. Brandon Showell vs Hannah Mrozak – Team Adam Levine – Cold Water by Major Lazer – Hannah’s brother, who really wanted her to audition for The Voice, committed suicide last year. Understandably, she becomes very emotional as she speaks about him. Also, when she was a teen, Hannah was a contestant on American Idol on season 14. Brandon taught 7th grade English. Between his Blind Audition and now, Brandon got married. Joe Jonas is really hot! says Hannah. Adam likes the idea of rearranging the song for the duo. Joe notes that Hannah can get lost in the moment. On the other hand, Brandon has a nice runs and a big voice.
Brandon’s tone is pretty, but his runs are a bit cliched. I’m not really digging this ballady arrangement, either. Hannah really comes alive on the second chorus. Girl can belt. I really felt her emotion. She won this battle, for sure. Blake would give the battle to Hannah. If JHud had to choose “I think I’d roll with Brandon,” she says Miley thinks Hannah has grown a lot–she didn’t turn for her initially. Adam calls it a dead even match but…Adam Picks Hannah Mrozak. But then afterward, he says Hannah clearly won the battle. OK then. – Download at iTunes

Dave Crosby vs Dylan Gerard – Team Adam Levine – Doctor My Eyes by Jackson Browne – Adam Picks Dylan Gerard– (Dave Crosby is the singer whose YouTube duets with his young daughter went viral. They appeared on Ellen, and little big shots. Oh well. It was nice knowing you Dave.) Download at iTunes
Esera Tuaolo vs Rebecca Brunner – Team Blake Shelton – This I Promise You by ‘Nsync – Blake Picks Esera Tuaolo (Esera is the former NFL player who came out as gay after he retired) – Download at iTunes
Chloe Kohanski vs Illianna Viramontes – Team Miley Cyrus I Am Woman by Helen Reddy – Miley Picks Chloe Kohanski – Download at iTunes

Dennis Drummond vs Mitchell Lee – Team Blake Shelton – Mr. Jones by Counting Crows – Dennis describes himself as mainly a guitar player. He’s played for The Voice alum Adam Wakefield. Mitchell planned to go to dental school. But then his mom passed away. Now, he’s following his dreams. Mitchell sounds a lot like Voice alum Barrett Baber. Dennis and Mitchell are both “Nashville guys” says Blake, but not mainstream. He calls them “East End Nashville.” Which is like the Brooklyn of Nashville? Or something. Blake compliments Dennis’ diction. Mitchell needs to work on that. However, Dennis has to learn to be a front guy. At the final rehearsal, both seemed to have taken the notes they were given.
WATCH OUT. We’ve got a steal. “Mrs. Jones” is a good song pick for both of them. Dennis is not a strong singer. Mitchell is singing rings around him. It’s not much of a contest. He’s got no range, no charisma. He comes across as the thing he is–a guy who has been singing backgrounds his whole career. I admire his courage to step out though. Jhud would choose Mitchell. Miley appreciated Dennis’ stage presence. Adam felt Mitchell sang it like Adam Duritz, while Dennis made it his own. Blake picks Mitchell Lee “He’s more in my wheelhouse,” says Blake. Adam steals Dennis Drummond Hm. I don’t see the appeal. – Download at iTunes
