The Voice has a duo this year. Check out Adam and Jerome, members of OneUp as they cover the Spinners classic R&B hit “Could it Be I’m Falling in Love.” It takes a minute, but by the end of the song, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton all turned their chairs.
“You took me to the rafters,” said Jennifer Hudson after their fun performance. The two guys are both romantic and musical partners after meeting and falling in love.
OneUp member Adam describes the duo’s sound: “Motown. That’s music that’s timeless. That’s what we want to do.” Adam Levine, who didn’t turn, puts in a plug for Blake mentioning that he did amazing work with the country duo The Swon Brothers a few seasons back.
When the entire extended family comes out to meet the coaches, Kelly tears up. “It’s going to sound super cheesy and I’ll try not to cry because I’m that girl, but…In a time in this country where it’s so divisive, this is such a beautiful thing,” she says of the mixed race gay couple.
“It is proof that in this country, love is limitless,” adds Kelly, “It’s the most beautiful thing that’s happened to me this season.”
“I want to be in the family!” Jennifer then says, hopping on stage to hug the duo and their families.
When Blake finally gets a word in, he says, “I have had the most success with duos of any coach in the history of The Voice. Why not pick a coach who has a proven track record?” He adds, “You need a cowboy, c’mon!”
Who will Adam and Jerome choose? Find out on Monday when The Voice Blind Auditions 5 airs on NBC at 8 pm ET. We’ll be live blogging.
