Here are this week’s The Voice studio recording for tonight’s (Dec 7) Top 9 performance episode. For the first time, The Voice will only stream studio songs on You Tube. Unlike in the past, Streams will NOT count as votes.
The finalists chose big songs this week. Even Ian Flanigan went for the tear jerking “sad dogs” song, “Angel.” Jim Ranger’s choice is a little surprising. Young people remember “Without You” as the song Mariah Carey covered, although it was a huge hit for Nilsson in the 70s. Still, it’s not a country song, and therefore a risk.

Young Bailey Rae choosing the iconic “Georgia on My Mind”? Does she have the chops and maturity to tackle it? We’ll see. And even younger Carter Rubin–I understand Gwen choosing age appropriate material, but is the song a little too babyish for a singing competition?
So far, I’m co-signing Cami Clune’s song choice. She’s changing it up this week as I hoped she would.
