Chris’s performance came off like a joke audition. Both have big unwieldy voices. So handing them a Meatloaf song. HA HA HA. Oh dear. There’s a ton of caterwauling happening up in here. Olly seems pretty excited, though. I don’t think there will be a steal happening. Jennifer said they both put on a show. Tom was impressed that they both sang in the same key. Olly calls it an “incredible” battle. Olly says he loves Chris “to bits” but Team Olly chooses Holly. Chris is eliminated. Ugh. The performer has to stand there silent–waiting until a coach pushes their button…or not.

Courtney O’Neil vs Eliza Gutteridge – Fight Song by Rachel Platten – Sixteen year old Eliza is a big Tom Jones fan. Courtney, another teen, comes from a small town. Let’s see Eliza is nasally, and Courtney is muppety. If I had to choose, I’d go with the muppet. Her pitch and phrasing was better. Tom says they both delivered a fight. “A hell of a job.” Jennifer respects that they both seem to want it. Team Tom chooses Eliza. Courtney is eliminated.

Mark Asari vs Loaded Sista – Don’t Let Go – En Vogue – Will reminds the group that some of them won’t be there soon. He announces that he’s “uploading” two singers into battle. Uhm. Mark, who has a stammer, is a bit intimidated being pitted against two singers. And then he is uncomfortable with the song choice. The female duo definitely have the advantage here. Yep. The girls are definitely overwhelming poor Mark. They’re popping. Mark doesn’t seem confident at all. Jennifer felt the nerves from everyone. She’d pick Mark. Tom loved the overall sound. He can’t pick. Oh wow! Team Will Chooses Mark. Loaded Sista are Eliminated Gee. Mark speaks after his win. His stutter has magically disappeared.

Tai vs Kade Smith – Stand By Me – Ben E King – More teens. Kade is the kid who sings and raps. So is he going to rap in the middle of Stand By Me? Tai is intimidated by Kade’s confidence. After some rehearsal, Will admits to his singers that he made a mistake putting them together. He doesn’t want to lose either of them. Ha. That means the loser will be stolen. WATCH. Tai has a good voice, but her vocal mannerisms are kind of annoying. Plus, she has pitch problems. Here he goes with a rap. SHE’S RAPPING TOO. Not really digging this arrangement. The harmonies are super pitchy. That performance devolved into a big ole mess. Tom says he knew Ben E. King. “He’s rolling in his grave.” JUST KIDDING. Tom didn’t say that. Jennifer thinks they both are stars. Olly jokes that Kade stole his jacket. Will thinks either one could win the show. Hm. Will delivers a convoluted reason for choosing the way he did. Belle Voci vs Scarlett Quiggley – Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana – Yep. As predicted, Jennifer pitted the two opera acts against each other. BUT THIS SONG CHOICE Y’ALL. Neither knew the song at all. Sarah said, “My dad listens to this kind of music.” Hoo boy. Scarlet straightened her hair. Really, I never ever ever EVER needed to hear this song sung in an operatic style. The arrangement is ridiculous. HORRIBLE. The crowd inexplicably gives them a standing ovation. Will calls the performancer “audacious” and “brave.” Team Jennifer chooses Belle Voci. Scarlett Quiggley is eliminated. I would have gone with Scarlett, the more versatile singer.

Lucy Milburn vs Simon Davies – Too Good At Goodbyes by Sam Smith – Both are big emotional singers and received 4 turns from the coaches. Both are very good. I think I prefer Simon because his tone and delivery are so unique. He would really pop on the radio. “You smashed it,” says Olly. Jennifer can’t choose! Before Tom chooses, he says the other deserves a steal. Team Tom Chooses Lucy. Simon is eliminated. Olly said he would have stolen Simon if he had a steal left. WHAT A SHAME. Simon deserved to move on.

Rhianna Abrey vs Donel Mangena – Rain by The Script – Donel from Zimbabwe has a cute grandma. Rhianna realizes she wasn’t at her best during her Blind Audition. Both singers are struggling through rehearsals. Will is concerned. It’s a little pitchy, and lacking in chemistry, but the performance is actually pretty solid. They’re both very young. They have potential. I’d pick Donel. His stage presence is engaging. “That was amazing,” says Olly. Jennifer calls Donel a superstar. Will is so proud of them both. Team Will Chooses Donel.
