The Voice 23 winner Gina Miles previews new song, “Someone New”
Fresh off winning The Voice season 23 alongside coach Niall Horan, Gina Miles has posted a new original song on social media, titled “Someone New.”
In the clip, the teen singer performed the song live while accompanying herself on acoustic guitar. “Wanted to share a little original song i’ve been working on, this one’s Someone New (for now at least lol),” she captioned the post. Listen to the sad ballad below.
The lyrics go: “How can I need you….I don’t want to leave you, but all my love is where your are…you can’t seem to find a clue that I wanted you, not someone new.”
“I definitely found my lane through the show”
Previously Gina, who hails from Paxton, Illinois, released an EP titled Who Are You. The singer revealed to NBC Insider the direction her original music will take. “I feel like I want to experiment with sounds and see what we like. And I feel like I’ve definitely found my lane through the show of those more darker, moodier songs. Also pop songs. I really do enjoy a pop moment, and I like performing and having fun just as much as I like to be emotional and have those deeper songs, too,” she said.
Since winning The Voice, Gina sang the National Anthem for the Sacramento fire academy graduation ceremony. “What a special experience, and congratulations to all the recruits,” she wrote on Instagram.
Gina thanked her fellow The Voice finalists
After her surprise win, which snatached away the 10th and final win from departing coach Blake Shelton, Gina took to social media with a message. “I’ve had the time of my life on this journey and i could not have asked for better people to go through it with,” she wrote of her fellow finalists, Sorelle, NOIVAS, Grace West and D. Smooth. “The friends i have made are so special and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for this opportunity and for all your love and support. I will never be able to express that enough. This has been such a crazy time in my life and I can’t wait for what’s next.”
Happy tears as Niall gives Gina a big hug after her win. Even Blake congratulated her.
Gina’s Blind Audition featured a performance of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away.” Both Niall and Kelly Clarkson hit their buttons for Gina, but Niall convinced her to join his team. A big turning point for the singer came when her performance of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” went viral after the Playoffs. In the finals, she sealed the deal with an emotional performance of “Nothing Compares to U” by Sinead O’Connor.
