Newly minted winner of The Voice season 16, Maelyn Jarmon, announced some terrific news! She’s engaged to her fellow musician and boyfriend, Johnny Murrell! Congratulations to the happy couple.
Maelyn made the announcement on Instagram, with a couple of sweet photos and a breathless caption: “I said, “Yes!! Of course!” I can’t wait to spend forever with you, @johnnymurrell.”
Meanwhile, Johnny posted the same set of photos on his Instagram alongside a romantic and touching message, “On my 30th bday, under the ruse of a family photo, I asked my best friend to marry me in a song with my wonderful family as my band. She said YES and I am over the moon!!!” he gushed. “Madelyn Jarmon, you are the most compassionate, loving, intelligent, talented, selfless, and gorgeous person I’ve ever known. Thanks for choosing to take on this crazy world together! I love you more than anything and everything. So much love to our families for making this surprise a huge success!!”

The good news comes ahead of Maelyn’s appearance on the PBS annual 4th of July special, A Capitol Fourth. The Team John Legend singer will perform the National Anthem ahead of performances from American Idol winner Laine Hardy and America’s Got Talent alums, Angelica Hale and Lindsey Stirling.
The Frisco, Texas native triumphed on The Voice, over a mighty group of Team Blake Shelton members, despite deafness in one ear due to childhood ear infections. Nevertheless, she considers the deafness a “superpower” that helps her stay in tune. “It was never discussed as a disability through my house,” she said. It was never really talked about much at all.” At 17, Maelyn was encouraged to try Broadway and her parents moved with her to New York City to give the Great White Way a go. At 21, she stepped away from Broadway to focus on creating original music.
