After The Voice runner-up Wendy Moten had surgery to repair a shattered elbow on Friday (Dec. .17), the singer checked in early on Monday (Dec 21) to let everyone know that she’s OK.
“Counting the days until I have fully recovered from my elbow surgery so I can get back to work finishing recording my new music and performing live!!!” Wendy wrote alongside a few photos from her recovery. “I’ll most definitely keep you all posted and I hope there’s something in the works with @blakeshelton too !!! Fingers crossed !!! #thevoice #teamblake”
The surgery came after falling over a speaker on stage during the Nov. 23 live show. The singer has had to wear casts on both her arms after breaking her right elbow and fracturing her left hand.
“My elbow is jacked up,” she told People magazine (Dec. 13) after The Voice performance finale. “It’s shattered. It’s no good. I have to have surgery to put metal plates and bolts and things. So I’m amazed that I was able to still keep going with that knowledge.”
And still keep going she did, eventually coming in second place on Team Blake Shelton. Team Kelly Clarkson’s Girl Named Tom took the crown.
I’m going to need your prayers and best wishes for my arm surgery
“The recovery may take two or three months,” Wendy told fans a day after The Voice finale. “I’m going to need your prayers and best wishes for my arm surgery…” adding “I’m going to have one of the best surgeons to put my elbow back together.” The surgery took place at Vanderbilt in Nashville where the singer lives.
“Once I get this surgery under wraps and I get through my recovery…then I am going to put some things together and get some shows going. Record some more music,” Wendy told fans. And as far as that collab with Blake is concerned. He teased dueting with her all through the competition. A The Voice coach known for helping out Team members after the competition, he is probably waiting for her to recover.
Wendy shouted out to her fellow finalists. “Congratulations to Girl Named Tom for winning The Voice,” Wendy said, adding that she’s grateful for coming in second place. “They are some beautiful people,” Wendy said of the sibling trio from Team Kelly Clarkson.
