Usher Breaks Silence, Thanks Men Who Saved His Son’s Life

Usher has released a statement, in the wake of the hospitalization of his 5-year old son. He thanked the men who saved the boy’s life.

“I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock. I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews,” the singer said in a statement. “They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”

On Monday, his eldest son, Usher Raymond V got his arm stuck in a pool drain as he was attempting to retrieve a toy.

Two male employees, audio technicians working inside the house, jumped into the pool and saved him after the maid and the boy’s aunt could not save him. He was given CPR before taken to the hospital.

“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” the statement read. “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being,”

Although the boy is safe, the drama isn’t over. Usher’s ex-wife and the boy’s mother Tameka, is filing for custody of Usher V in the aftermath of the near-tragedy.

“Now that it’s sunk in, she is livid,” a source close to Tameka told People magazine. “Usher has custody and won’t let Tameka have the kids, even when he’s out of town. She feels like the kids are being raised by his family or by nannies, when they should be with their mother.”
